Wasps, also known as wasps, wasps, queen wasps, dragon wasps, red-headed wasps, bumblebees, etc., are not the same species as bees. They make a living by preying on insects. Most of the time wasps are beneficial insects. When wasps are disturbed or provoked, they sting people. Most wasps are poisonous. Let's take a look at how wasps sting people.

Toxicity of wasps

The main components of wasp venom are histamine, serotonin, bradykinin, hyaluronidase and so on. The venom is alkaline and easily neutralized by acidic solution. Venom has hemolysis, bleeding and neurotoxic effects, can damage myocardial, renal tubules and glomeruli, especially easy to damage proximal convoluted renal tubules, but also cause allergic reactions.

After being stung by a wasp, the skin immediately becomes red and swollen, painful, and even petechiae and skin necrosis. when the eyes are stung, the pain is severe, tears, redness and swelling, and corneal ulcers can occur. Systemic symptoms include dizziness, headache, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, restlessness, elevated blood pressure, etc., the above symptoms generally disappear within a few hours to a few days, severe cases can be lethargy, systemic edema, oliguria, coma, hemolysis, myocarditis, hepatitis, acute renal failure and shock. Some patients who are allergic to bee venom can show urticaria, anaphylactic shock and so on.

What about wasp stings?

The venom of wasp sting needle contains phospholipase, hyaluronidase and a protein called antigen 5, which should be treated in time after being stung by wasp. If you are unfortunately stung by a wasp, the following measures should be taken at the scene:

1. If the wound remains toxic thorns can be picked out with needles or tweezers, but do not squeeze, lest the remaining toxins enter the body. Local cleaning with clean water is appropriate, then crush the snake tablets into powder, mix them with tea and mineral water into a paste and apply them to the wound. At the same time, take orally 10-20 snake tablets. And promptly to the nearest medical institutions to use anti-allergy drugs and hormones.

2. When the local pain of the sting is severe, 30 mg of emetic hydrochloride or oral analgesics can be injected subcutaneously near the heart end of the wound.

3. For patients with mild systemic symptoms, oral anti-allergic drugs can be given subcutaneously or intramuscularly with 1000 epinephrine (0.5ml) or hydrocortisone 100mg 200mg or dexamethasone 5mg 10mg intravenously.

4. in the event of anaphylactic shock, cardiopulmonary resuscitation is performed immediately if there is cardiac and respiratory arrest, and call 120 at the same time.

5. After emergency treatment on the spot, those with severe symptoms should be sent to the hospital for further treatment.

6. Folk treatment methods such as local external application of fresh purslane juice can be tried for the lighter ones.

Tip: after being stung, quickly cover the wound with saliva, so that the smell of toxin can not be released (more practical), other wasps can not smell the smell of toxin, can not identify the target, will not attack together.

Matters needing attention for wasp stings

1. Remind everyone to pay special attention to any injury. Do not block the wound with dirt, rags, dirty handkerchiefs and other things, so as to avoid tetanus and man-made death.

2, our general common bees are bees, wasps, if it is stung by bees, its sting will stay in the human body, you can first pull out the broken sting. Because the bee venom is acidic, it can be washed with soapy water or ammonia water. If you are slightly injured by a bee sting, you can see erythema, papules or rubella in the center, burning and tingling. If you are asymptomatic 20 minutes after stinging, you can rest assured.

3. When you go out in autumn, if a wasp lands on you, shake it off gently and never pat it. If you mistakenly provoke a wasp to cause a swarm attack, protect your head and neck with clothing, run away or lie down in place, and do not hit back, otherwise it will infuriate the colony and lead to a more violent attack.

4. Wear long clothes when working in dense wasp areas, pay attention to the protection of face and hands, and don't provoke wasps.
