Fushu snail, also known as apple search snail, originated in the Amazon River Basin in South America, is a large aquatic snail. Since it was introduced into China in the 1980s, the snail has caused widespread damage in South China and Southeast Asian countries because of its strong stress resistance, miscellaneous food habits, amazing fecundity and extremely fast growth rate. China is mainly distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Hainan and other provinces. The snail has the characteristics of direct and indirect harm to aquatic crops. the direct harm is to directly feed on crop seedlings, resulting in a small number of seedlings or breaking seedlings, and the indirect harm is that the feeding wound becomes a channel for the invasion of many kinds of bacteria and induces the occurrence and epidemic of various diseases.

The difference between Fushu snail and field snail

Field snails, also known as field snails and yellow snails, are found in most parts of China and live in the sediment of lakes, rivers, swamps, ponds and paddy fields. They usually crawl on the bottom of the water or aquatic plants with broad feet, and take the leaf juice and algae of aquatic plants as the main food.

1. The shell color of Fushu snail is yellow, while that of field snail is bluish brown.

2. The vertebral tail of Oncomelania hupensis is flat and short, and the vertebral tail of field snail is long and sharp.

3. The cover of Fushu snail is flat, and the shape of field snail is relatively round.

4. The meat of Oncomelania hupensis is lighter, mostly yellowish white, while the meat of field snail is mostly bluish brown.
