How to raise pearl birds?

1. Breeding environment: Pearl birds are relatively timid and afraid of people, and it is easy to be frightened by people. The environment for keeping birds should be quiet and should not be frightened. Therefore, it is still not easy to raise in groups. The general family breeding cage is about 30 cm long, 25 cm wide and 35 cm high, and one to several pairs can be raised.

2. Box cage setting: an artificial nest box should be set on the upper corner of the pearl bird's cage. The artificial nest box is about 9 cm long, 7 cm wide and 10 cm high. The bottom of the box is covered with cotton or nest grass about 2 cm thick, and the entrance and exit is about 3 cm in diameter. There is a small platform outside the entrance. Bamboo tube or gourd can also be used instead.

3. Bait management: Pearl birds are fed with shelled millet, 60% of barnyardgrass, 30% of millet and 10% of millet can also be mixed and fed with egg millet and fresh green leafy vegetables and fruits during young and breeding periods. Mineral feed such as cuttlefish bones, shells, gravel and so on should also be supplied.

4. Temperature management: Pearl birds like water bath very much, and the temperature of the water should be kept at about 30 ℃. However, in addition to the baby-rearing period, the prepared tank provides an appropriate amount of bath water. The most suitable growth temperature is 20-25 ℃. In winter, the indoor temperature should not be lower than 15 ℃. It should be kept warm at night to facilitate the growth and development of guinea birds.

5. Breeding and hatching: after nesting, pearl birds will mate several times in a week. About a week after successful pairing, they will lay 4 or 6 small white eggs in the nest. Females and males hatch alternately, but mainly females. The incubation period is 14 days, and there is a fluctuation of 1-2 days due to the climate difference between the north and the south. During this period, the environment should be kept quiet, the light should not be too strong, and the cages and nests should not be moved easily.

6. Young bird management: after the pearl bird comes out of its shell, the young pearl bird is naked and wrapped in only a small amount of white fluff. The parent spits out the semi-digested food to feed the nestling. At this time, the weak egg millet with the proportion of eggs less than 15% is the feed for the chick. The young birds leave the nest in 21 days to learn to fly. After three months, the black mouth begins to fade from the base of the nose to sexual maturity. After five months, they have the ability to reproduce. If raised properly, they can reproduce throughout the year.

Breeding nest: there is a partition in the middle of the breeding nest of the pearl bird, and the nest box is divided into two rooms, the partition and the outer room leave the entrance and exit respectively, and the entrance and exit is equipped with a small platform to pedal when the bird goes in and out of the nest.

3. Estrus feeding: when pearl birds grow to March to April, choose their parents, feed eggs and millet, and wash clean fresh vegetables (rape is the best) to promote oestrus.
