Penguin is one of the oldest swimming birds, known as "ocean boat". Most of them are distributed in the southern hemisphere and can live and reproduce in the cold of-60 ℃. There are 18 independent species, mainly feeding on krill, squid and small fish. The largest species is emperor penguins, and the smallest penguin species is small blue penguins. Let's take a look at penguins' natural enemies.

Leopard seal

The leopard seal is 3 to 4 meters long and weighs 300 to 500 kilograms. It has a meandering body and a huge head. It has no forehead like amphibians, but has large and deep jaws. Although they are large and slow on land, they have the agility and rapidity of the seal family in the water. Unlike other seals, leopard seals used to swim with their flippers and touch things with their jaws. Their huge canine teeth allow them to prey on baby seals, penguins and other birds. At the top of the food chain in Antarctica, bold and curious, orcas are its only natural enemies.

Skua

Skua flies alone or in pairs, often flies over the sea, flies forcefully and fast, walks and runs well on the ground, is good at swimming, but does not know how to dive, usually makes a living by grabbing the food of other seabirds or killing seabirds, mainly feeds on birds and all kinds of seabirds, preys on rabbits, rodents, eggs and chicks on the island in summer, and often pursues booby, gull and other seabirds over the sea Force them to spit out the food they have captured.

Sea lion

Sea lions are very social animals, usually in groups, sometimes forming large groups of thousands on land, but small groups of one or more than a dozen heads are often found at sea, hunting in the sea during the day, swimming and diving mainly rely on long forelegs, occasionally climb to the shore to bask in the sun, and sleep on the shore at night. They feed on fish, squid, jellyfish and clams. They also like to eat krill, sometimes even penguins when they are hungry.

Orcas

Orca is a large toothed whale, also known as orcas, killer whales, etc., length of 8 meters, weight of about 9 tons, slightly round head, slender mouth, sharp teeth, fierce temperament, good at attacking prey, is the natural enemy of penguins, seals and other animals. Sometimes it attacks other whales, even great white sharks, which can be called the overlord of the sea. Moreover, the orca is a highly social animal, with some groups consisting of the most stable families in the animal kingdom, and some complex social behaviors, hunting skills and voice communication are considered to be evidence that orcas have their own culture.
