Jackfruit is native to India and Southeast Asia and likes tropical climate. it is suitable for frost-free areas with abundant annual rainfall. It has been introduced into China for nearly a thousand years. Now it is mainly cultivated in Hainan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Taiwan and other places in South China. It has high cultivation value. Seed propagation, budding propagation and high-altitude striping propagation can be used for reproduction, but seed propagation is the main method in various places. Next, let's take a look at how jackfruit seeds are planted.

Selection of species

The first thing for jackfruit's seed reproduction is, of course, seed selection. Seeds of the local jackfruit variety with strong resistance and adaptability had better be selected. Fresh seeds stripped from the fruit should be selected for no more than 48 hours. It is required that the seeds are mature, full, smooth, no spots, no trauma, no harm of diseases and insect pests. With such healthy seeds, the budding rate can be guaranteed. After the seed selection is completed, the seed treatment is carried out.

Seed washing

The seeds selected by jackfruit should be immediately put into clean water. It is best to scrub them with hands for 2-3 minutes. Wash thoroughly, and scrub the pulp and sugar on the fruit grains. If you clean the seeds and sow them, you will not be attacked by ants or other diseases and insect pests.

Disinfection

Jackfruit's seeds should be disinfected after seed washing. Carbendazim is selected as the disinfection and germicidal agent. 15kg of water is added to the prepared solution. The seeds are poured into the solution and soaked for 2-3 minutes. Next, do the preparatory work of sand bed sprouting.

Sand bed

Jackfruit sowing sand bed area can be determined according to the number of seeds, to choose fine river sand as a bud bed, humidity requirements of 25%, holding hands do not stick hands, but also can immediately spread out. First lay 10-15 cm thick sand as the bottom sand, must be smooth, scraped flat with a thin board is the best. In order to facilitate management, it is generally made into a bed that is 10 meters long and 1 meter wide.

Sprout

Jackfruit spread the treated seeds slowly on the sand bed after laying the bottom sand, and let the seeds spread out so as not to hinder sprouting. After laying the seeds, cover the seeds with a layer of sand with a thickness of about 2 centimeters. Next, we should cover a layer of dry branch weeds on the bud bed to achieve the purpose of further shading and moisturizing, as well as the effect of warming.

Administration and Management

It takes about 20 days for budding between 18 and 30 ℃, and about 35 days for budding in the weather of 8 to 18 ℃. The dry and wet condition of the sand bed should be observed and water should be drenched in time. The frequency of watering is variable, based on the principle of keeping the soil surface moist. Wait until after budding, uncover the weeds.

Transplant

The main root of jackfruit seedling is very developed, and the lateral root is very few, so it is not easy to survive when transplanting. In order to overcome this shortcoming, it is best to cut the main root in separate bed and dip the root in 50 mg / kg rooting powder solution to promote it to grow more lateral roots and improve the survival rate. It is best to load the nutrition seedling bag directly, the plastic bag is 25 × 35 cm, and the nutrition soil is made by mixing cow dung and topsoil at 3:7.
