Cause of disease

Banana Fusarium wilt is a soil-borne vascular disease, and diseased banana seedlings and diseased soil are the primary sources of infection. After the pathogen invaded the banana from the root, it spread to the tuber through the vascular bundle tissue, and the vascular bundle tissue of the infected site was obviously browned, and most of the pseudotumps were longitudinally split inward, tuber rot and so on. Factors such as high temperature and heavy rain, acidity of soil, sandy loam, low fertility, clay weight of soil, poor drainage, poor permeability of subsoil and root damage by tillage are beneficial to the occurrence of the disease. The susceptible spring plantains generally began to get sick from June to July, aggravated from August to September, and reached the peak from October to November.

Develop symptoms

1. External symptoms: at the adult stage, the diseased plant first showed a specific yellow in the lower leaf and the outer leaf sheath, occurred at the edge of the leaf at the initial stage, and then expanded to the middle rib one by one, which was significantly compared with the dark green part of the leaf. There are also whole leaves yellowing, susceptible leaves quickly withered, from yellow to brown to dry, the last parietal leaf is often late or can not be extracted, and finally the diseased plant withered.

2, internal symptoms: the cause of banana wilt belongs to vascular bundle disease, and the internal symptom is very obvious. in and around the pith of the central column, there are vascular bundles with yellow-red lesions, which are speckled or linear. The closer to the base of the stem, the darker the pathological changes. The woody ducts in the roots become reddish brown, and gradually become dark brown and dry, and the corms become dark brown and gradually rot, with a special stench.

Prevention and cure method

1. Banana seedlings and Manila hemp seedlings and their accompanying soil are strictly restricted from the disease area.

2. in order to ensure that the banana garden is free of Fusarium wilt, disease-free banana seedlings should be selected and introduced from areas where there is no banana Fusarium wilt. In addition, Fusarium wilt-resistant varieties should be selected as far as possible.

3. If sporadic diseased plants are found in the banana garden, the diseased plants should be immediately uprooted and chopped up, put into a plastic bag, add lime and seal the mouth of the bag, remove and away from the banana garden to let it rot.

4. in order to eliminate the source of infection and eliminate the opportunity of transmission, the treatment of diseased soil is a very important measure.

5. increase fertilizer application, open ditches and drainage, enhance plant disease resistance, flat land seriously diseased banana garden can be flooded for half a year or rotation with rice.

6. the mildly diseased plants were irrigated with 30 jin of water with broad-spectrum fungicide for 2 to 3 times at intervals of 3 to 5 days to promote root growth, strengthen plants and provide disease resistance.

7. In the middle and later stages of the disease, 41% poly-pyrimidine 800-fold solution was sprayed once every 3-7 days, or 38% carbendazim 600-fold solution was sprayed to the back of the base leaf.

Note: the pathogen of banana Fusarium wilt can remain in the soil for more than 30 years, and no pesticide can eradicate it, so although there are some simple rice rotation or some organic matter, soil improvement methods are effective, but they are local, comprehensive control still needs to use disease-resistant or disease-tolerant varieties.
