The Energy Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Industrial Research Institute met with the Penghu County Government to discuss the Penghu low carbon Island project.

In order to develop Penghu low-carbon demonstration island, Zeng Zengcai, deputy head of the Energy Technology Group of the Energy Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, went to the Penghu County government on the afternoon of May 26 to meet with Chen Kuangfu, the county government. Chen Kuangfu said that the central government is actively building Penghu low-carbon island. Chen Kuangfu said that the county government will fully cooperate with the promotion, hoping that through the cooperation of the central and local governments, Penghu will be built into a low-carbon demonstration island with a loud brand.

As the second phase of the plan to build a low-carbon island is about to start, Chen Guangfu asked Zeng Zengcai to report to the central government, hoping to win more subsidies for green energy transportation such as electric vehicles, which can play a good demonstration role in building a low-carbon island in Penghu. In addition, it is also suggested to select appropriate islands to be included in Penghu low-carbon demonstration island implementation area. In addition to the original Qimei, Hujing, Tongpan and Jibei, Wanganben Island, Dongji and other four southern islands of marine national parks can be added. If they can receive key support from the central government, it is believed that they will be a big plus for the development of tourism and low-carbon demonstration effects.

Zeng Zengcai also pointed out that the Taiwan-Penghu submarine cable project is an important key to the success of low-carbon island development, because it is necessary to transmit Penghu wind power generation to Taiwan Island through submarine cables. Chen Guangfu said that in order to assist the smooth construction of the Taiwan-Penghu submarine cable, he went to Yunlin County to meet with Li Chin-yung County Mayor, thanking Li County Mayor for many times of coordination, and also hoped that Taiwan Electric Power can strengthen communication and explain more, so as to obtain public consensus as soon as possible to promote wind power.

Chen Kuang-fu is optimistic about the future development of wind power in Penghu. He also points out that wind power development must be carried out on the premise that it does not affect the beautiful bay scenery of Penghu. More importantly, it is necessary to establish a feedback mechanism beneficial to the villagers, so that all county residents can share the real benefits of wind power development. At the same time, professional technology manufacturers can also fully cooperate with Taipower on the land cable power grid and submarine cable parts to make overall consideration.

Dr. Yang Bingchun, deputy director of the Institute of Green Energy and Environment at the Industrial Technology Research Institute, Dr. Chen Yung-sen, general secretary of National Pingtung University, and Hong Tung-lin, director of the county government's construction department, were also present to discuss and exchange views.
