Ginkgo biloba is a deciduous tree of the genus Ginkgo biloba of the Ginkgo family. It is the oldest relict of gymnosperms left over from the Quaternary glacier movement. It grows slowly and lives very long. Under natural conditions, it takes more than 20 years from planting to bearing ginkgo fruit. It takes 40 years to bear a large number of fruits, with ornamental, economic and medicinal value. Let's take a look at the distribution of ginkgo trees.

Distribution of producing areas of Ginkgo biloba

Ginkgo biloba is widely distributed in China, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, the United States, France, Russia and other countries and regions. In China, ancient ginkgo trees have been found in the eastern plain to the southwest mountain area from several meters to tens of meters above sea level, especially in Shandong, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Anhui, Guangxi, Hubei, Sichuan, Jiangsu and Guizhou provinces.

The producing environment of ginkgo biloba trees

Ginkgo biloba is a positive tree, which likes the deep loam with proper moisture and good drainage, and is suitable for growing in the subtropical monsoon area with superior hydrothermal conditions. It can grow well in both acid soil and calcareous soil, while neutral or slightly acidic soil is the most suitable, where it is not resistant to stagnant water, it is more resistant to drought, and grows poorly in too dry places, stony slopes or low humid places. At the initial stage, the growth is slow and the tillering is strong. The female plant generally begins to bear fruit in about 20 years, and the 500-year-old tree can still bear fruit normally.
