Plums are mainly distributed in Liaoning, Jilin, Shaanxi, Gansu, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi and Taiwan. They are often grown in hillside thickets, valley sparse forests or watersides, ditch bottoms and roadsides. They are cultivated in various provinces of China and all over the world, and are one of the important temperate fruit trees.

The producing environment of plums

Plums have strong adaptability to climate, as long as the soil is deep and has certain fertility, no matter what kind of soil can be planted, high requirements for air and soil moisture, extremely intolerant of stagnant water, poor drainage of orchards, often resulting in rotten roots, poor growth or prone to various diseases, it is appropriate to choose places with loose soil, good soil permeability and drainage, deep soil layer and low groundwater level to build a garden.

Representative products of plums

1. Sand hollow plum: sand hollow plum gets its name because of the separation of pulp and nucleus. It is produced in Shazi Town, Tujia Autonomous County, Yanhe County, Guizhou Province. Nanzhuang and Yonghong villages are the best. It is a fruit with regional characteristics, with bright green and gray fruit color, crisp and tender flesh, moderate acidity and sweetness, rich nutrition and delicious fragrance. In 2006, AQSIQ approved the implementation of geographical indication product protection for sand hollow plums.

2. Qingzhen crisp plum: Qingzhen crisp plum fruit shape is slightly flat, the top is flat, the apex is slightly concave, the pericarp is light yellow, thin, covered with white fruit powder, smooth, the pulp is thick, light yellow, the color near the core is dark, the flesh is dense, juicy, crisp, the average fruit weight is 32.3 grams, the taste is sweet and juicy, the meat is dense, crisp and refreshing, fragrant, slightly bitter, for the protection of geographical indications.

3. Shangguan June plum: Shangguan June plum is a characteristic agricultural product of Guanling Autonomous County, which has beautiful shape, crisp entrance, sweet taste, and has unique functions such as clearing heat and moistening lungs, detoxification, relieving thirst and so on. It is a typical pollution-free green fruit. Favored by the majority of consumers, it is a certified trademark for geographical indications.

4. Pingnan Oil Nai: Pingnan Oil Nai is a specialty of Pingnan County, Ningde City, Fujian Province. Pingnan Oil Nai, known as "eight Min rare fruits", is very popular because of its unique taste and large granules. It won the first place in the provincial fruit evaluation held in Fuzhou in 1996 and was named "the hometown of Oil Nai in China".

5. Babu Sanhua Li: Babu Sanhua Li is a specialty of Babu District, Hezhou City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous region. Hezhou is the famous "hometown of Chinese plums". The fruit of Babu Sanhua plum ripens from mid-June to early July. The fruit has thick flesh, thin skin, sweet and refreshing flavor, honey flavor, fragrance, purple-red and beautiful color, and the pulp is away from the core. Generally, the single fruit weighs 45-55 grams, and the large fruit weighs 60-70 grams.
