Hazel is a nut species of Betulaceae and Corylus. There are about 20 species in the world, which are widely distributed in the temperate regions of Asia, Europe and North America. There are 9 species confirmed by academic circles, namely, American hazel, European hazel, Turkish hazel and so on, but only European hazel is of real edible value. There are 8 species and two varieties naturally distributed in China.

In China, hazelnut producing areas are mainly distributed in the three provinces of Northeast China, the provinces of North China, the Hengduan Mountains of Southwest China and the mountainous areas of Gansu, Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia in the northwest.

Note: hazelnuts are not suitable for consumption after storing for a long time. Hazelnuts are rich in oil. Those with serious poor gallbladder function should be careful to eat 20 tablets at a time.
