Where is the origin of Chinese pomegranate?

The origin of pomegranate is Iran in the Mediterranean, and the best pomegranate in the world is in Iran, which is determined by Iran's unique climate. The main producing areas of pomegranate in China

Chinese pomegranate was brought back from a mission to the Western regions by Zhang Qian of the Han Dynasty more than 2000 years ago, but it was introduced not from Iran, but from Uzbekistan, which was first planted in China and then spread to the whole country. At present, China already has eight major pomegranate producing areas (some say six major producing areas), including Yicheng in Shandong Province, Sanyuan in Lintong County, Shaanxi Province, neighboring counties in Henan, Suixi Chao County in Xiaoshan, Huaiyuan, Anhui Province, and Huili in Sichuan. There are large areas of cultivation in Mengzi Qiaojianshui, Heyecheng, Suzhou, Nanjing, Jiangsu, Xuzhou and Pi County. According to the geographical, climatic and ecological conditions of pomegranate producing areas, the main distribution areas of pomegranate in China can be divided into 8 cultivation areas.

1. Henan-Shandong-Anhui-Jiangsu cultivation area.

2. Shaanxi-Jin cultivation area.

3. The cultivation area in the middle reaches of Jinsha River.

4. The cultivation area of southern Yunnan.

5. Sanjiang cultivation area.

6. The three Gorges cultivation area.

8. Yecheng and Kashgar cultivation areas.

Main varieties of pomegranate in China

Pomegranate is widely distributed in China. The famous pomegranate producing areas and varieties are as follows:

1. The main representative varieties of Lintong and Xianyang in Shaanxi are: Tianhong egg, pink pomegranate, soft seed pomegranate, white skin sweet pomegranate, red acid pomegranate, pure skin sweet, big red sweet, Luyu egg and so on.

2. The main representative varieties of Huaiyuan in Anhui are jade seed pomegranate, agate seed pomegranate and rough green skin.

3. The main representative varieties of Zaozhuang, Yancheng and Taian in Shandong Province are: Daqingpomegranate, soft seed pomegranate, Qingpi Xiehua Tian, Damaya, red skin sweet, white pomegranate, hemp skin rough.

Among them, Lintong in Shaanxi, Zaozhuang in Shandong, Huaiyuan in Anhui, Huili in Sichuan and Qiaojia in Yunnan are the five most influential producing areas in China.
