Passion fruit is native to the Antilles and is now widely planted in tropical and subtropical regions. The fruit can be eaten raw or used as vegetable or feed. Passion fruit can be divided into two categories: purple fruit and yellow fruit. The plant life is about 20 years, and the economic life is generally 8 to 10 years. Fruit is mainly used for processing fruit juice drinks, known as "king of fruit juices", and can also be added to other drinks to improve the quality of beverages.

Passion fruit has fleshy roots, climbing stems, mostly green, hollow pith, smooth internodes and tendrils. Leaf blade palmately trifid, serrated, smooth, dark green, veins prominent, evergreen. The flowers are big and beautiful. The fruit is a berry, the pericarp is leathery, tough and smooth. The flesh is full of yellow juice, like raw egg yolk. The content of fruit juice is about 40%, and the juice yield is 28% to 33%.

Passion fruit likes a warm and humid environment. It grows vigorously in areas with an average annual temperature of more than 18 ℃ and annual rainfall of 1000 to 2000 mm, and is easy to achieve high yield. Passion fruit cultivation needs to build scaffolding in order to obtain high yield, the general yield per mu is about 1 ton, the fruit yield period is from August to December.
