Ficus lutea, also known as rubber tree, is an evergreen tree plant of Moraceae and Ficus. It is named after the expansion of the leaf tip in the shape of a fiddle. The plant type is tall, straight and chic, and the leaves are peculiar. It has high ornamental value. It is often used as an ideal foliage plant in the hall. It can also be used to decorate the meeting place or office. Let's take a look at how to raise potted Ficus lutea.

Growth Habits of Ficus paniculata

Ficus paniculata is native to West Africa from Sierra Leone to Morocco, lowland tropical rain forest, widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions, and cultivated indoors and in greenhouses. It is mainly produced in Guangdong, Hainan, Guangxi, Fujian, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Anhui, Zhejiang and other places in China. It likes warm, humid and sunny environment. The suitable temperature for growth is 25℃ to 35℃, dormancy is about 15℃, and it can safely overwinter above 5℃. The requirement for moisture is wet rather than dry.

The propagation method of Ficus paniculata

1. Cutting: When cutting, select 1~2-year-old branches, cut them at 20~30 cm from the pot soil surface, cut them into 3~4 stem segments, as cuttings, leave a leaf for each cutting, and cut off 2/3~3/4 leaves to reduce water evaporation. Soak cuttings in water or apply plant ash to prevent sap from flowing out. Insert cuttings into cuttings cultivated with river sand or pearlite, and pay attention to maintaining the temperature of the seeding bed and high ambient air humidity. Rooting can take place at 25~30℃ for about one month.

2, high pressure: Ficus high-pressure propagation can be carried out in April to August, select the semi-lignified top branches of the mother plant, leave 3 to 4 leaves in the upper part, in the lower part of the circular peeling or tongue cutting, and then wrapped with moss, etc., tied with plastic film, about 40 days can take root, wait until it grows to about 30 cm, you can remove the planting or pot.

How to raise potted zither leaves?

1. Pot soil: When potted, choose a pot with a larger volume. Change the pot every 2~3 years in spring. Cover the bottom of the pot with convex tiles. First put it into an old pot, and then add a new substrate mixed with pastoral soil, peat soil and a small amount of sand. The soil should be slightly acidic.

2. Fertilization: The leaves of Qinye Ficus are wide and require a large amount of fertilizer. Therefore, liquid fertilizer or granular compound fertilizer must be applied in 1~2 weeks of growth and season to promote plant growth and thick green leaves. In late autumn and winter, fertilizer is generally not applied. From the time of new leaf development to the middle of August, fertilization was applied every 10 days, mainly nitrogen fertilizer. When the growth is large, more fertilizer can be applied, and no fertilizer can be applied when the growth is stopped or dormant.

3. Watering: The amount of watering of Qinye Ficus should depend on the ambient temperature. The water demand in spring and summer is relatively large. The water should be reduced during the dormant period to keep the pot soil moist. Summer can be appropriate shower light rain to facilitate growth, regular spraying warm water, growth will be better, watering is also slightly acidic as well. Excessive temperature fluctuations or exposure to direct sunlight in the short term are detrimental to growth. If the plant is kept at low temperature for a long time and watered too much at the same time, it can cause the plant to die.

4, light: Ficus panthera has strong adaptability to light, can grow well under bright scattered light, should avoid direct sunlight in summer, if placed outdoors must be shaded, winter should increase light. Suitable for semi-shade environment growth, summer to avoid direct sunlight, so as not to burn the leaves, so that the leaves lose luster. But the light is too weak, the plant growth is weak, so it must be given brighter light, in order to grow strong. The growth season generally grows well under 50% shade.

5. Temperature: Compared with other Ficus plants, Ficus has relatively weak cold tolerance, suitable temperature for growth is 25℃ to 35℃, dormancy is about 15℃, and it can safely overwinter above 5℃. In order to improve its cold tolerance, in addition to controlling the amount of watering in late autumn and winter, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer can be applied about one month before winter.

6. Disease prevention: After the disease occurs, the potted plants of Ficus lutea should be quickly moved to a ventilated place with sufficient sunlight, the leaves should not be sprayed, and the seriously ill leaves should be cut off. Light disease leaves can be cut off the disease spots together with part of healthy tissues, and then spray Duoduo liquid protection, or spray 80% zinc wettable powder 500 times solution, 25% metalaxyl wettable powder 500~800 times solution, etc., pay attention to the rotation of the use of chemicals.
