(Taiwan TB News Network / reporter Chen Nianzu) the number of air travel passengers in China has reached a new record. In 1994, the initial estimate of the total number of air travel in Taiwan will reach more than 57.81 million, surpassing the record of more than 56.3 million in 1986, and setting a record high. in the face of the sustained and rapid growth of civil aviation traffic, the Civil Aviation Administration is actively conducting land expropriation operations, including the third runway of Taoyuan International Airport, to meet the needs of future air transport and national development.

According to the statistics of the Civil Aviation Administration of the Ministry of Communications, the original record of civil aviation passenger trips in China was more than 56.3 million in 1986, while in 104 it was initially estimated to reach more than 57.81 million, including more than 36.18 million passengers on international routes, more than 11.85 million passengers on cross-strait routes and more than 9.77 million passengers on domestic routes.

After 1986, with the change of the land transport environment, the number of passengers on domestic routes declined rapidly, and so did the total number of passengers carried by air. The total number of passengers carried by air in Taiwan in 1997 was the lowest in recent years, with a total passenger volume of more than 35.23 million. As cross-strait routes began to fly in the Republic of China in 1997, they gradually developed from weekend charter flights and weekday charter flights to regular flights. at present, the mainland has opened 61 destinations opposite our 10 destinations, with 890 scheduled flights per week, and the total number of passengers carried reached more than 11.85 million last year.

In recent years, the government has strategically opened up the skies, actively expanded traffic rights, promoted foreign and mainland tourists to visit Taiwan, the overall growth of the international air transport market, and the rapid rise of low-cost airlines. The number of trips on international routes has also increased from more than 24.96 million in 1997 to more than 36.18 million last year, and the increase in the number of passengers on international routes is even higher than that of cross-strait routes in the same period.

The Ministry of Communications estimates that the number of trips by cross-strait and international routes will exceed 100 million in 2030. To meet the needs of the rapid growth of civil aviation and national development, the construction of airports in Taiwan needs to be upgraded as a whole. In particular, Taoyuan International Airport aims to develop into an East Asian hub airport. It is indeed necessary for Taoyuan Airport to expand the third runway, taxiway, satellite boarding hall, passenger and cargo facilities, maintenance workshops, support facilities and other important infrastructure, and the Civil Aviation Administration will actively handle related land expropriation operations.
