Types of rice lodging

1, the roots fall

Due to poor root development, root shallow and unstable, lack of support, slightly eroded by wind and rain, it will occur flat lodging;

2. Stem fall

Because the stalk is not strong, it cannot afford the upper weight, so lodging occurs in different degrees.

Causes of rice lodging

1. The variety is not resistant to falling

The varieties with short internodes, thick stems, erect leaves, short flag leaves and developed roots were not easy to lodge, otherwise they were lodging varieties. Planting lodging varieties is the key to prevent rice lodging.

2. The planting density is unreasonable

Too many holes per mu or too many seedlings per hole seriously affect the ventilation and light transmittance of rice, resulting in poor root growth, weak plant growth and growth of basal internodes, which is easy to cause lodging.

3. Fertilizer and water management is not in place

One-sided heavy application of nitrogen fertilizer makes the plant grow too vigorously, the row is sealed too early, the leaf area at ear stage is too large, resulting in lodging; long-term deep irrigation causes excessive internode growth at the base of stem, early death of lower leaves, poor root development and lodging.

4. Diseases and pests

Pest control is not timely, stem tissue is destroyed, but also easy to cause lodging.

prevention measures

1. Choose fertilizer resistant and lodging resistant varieties

Such as the selection of semi-dwarf, stem thick, developed roots, vertical leaves of fertilizer resistant varieties.

2. Strengthen water and fertilizer management

Appropriate amount of nitrogen fertilizer, reasonable increase of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, small amount of silicon fertilizer and other trace fertilizers; frequent irrigation in shallow water, intermittent irrigation in shallow water should be carried out at each growth stage of rice, the water layer can be deepened appropriately at booting stage, and frequent irrigation in shallow water should be continued after heading.

3. Reasonable close planting

Reasonable colony structure can prevent population density from being too high, ventilation and light transmission are good, stem and leaf tissue is old and healthy, resistance to diseases and insect pests can be enhanced, and lodging resistance of stems can also be enhanced.

4. Sun-drying in due time

Sun-drying is an important measure to prevent lodging of rice. Therefore, at the end of rice tillering, drainage and sunning should be carried out to control ineffective tillering, improve soil environment, enhance root activity, and make rice seedlings grow healthily and steadily.

5, timely control of pests and diseases

To protect the lodging resistance of culms from pests or diseases or to minimize the damage of culms.
