The Kaohsiung municipal government held the third Kaohsiung Convention and Exhibition Forum at the Kaohsiung International Convention Center on the 17th to discuss the prospects of the exhibition industry and how to open up new opportunities for cooperation with the central government. Mayor Chen Ju said that Kaohsiung is actively promoting the convention and exhibition industry, with an estimated economic benefit of about 16 billion yuan, and the prospect is bright. Mayor Chen Ju said: "the convention and exhibition industry is one of the key industries in Kaohsiung in the future." the number of exhibitions at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Hall and Kaohsiung International Convention Center increased to 1573 last year from 404 in 2013. in addition, the municipal government also launched the Kaohsiung Convention and Exhibition Alliance last year to integrate the industry, and invited Tainan, Pingtung and Penghu to join in the joint marketing of southern Taiwan. as of last year, the output value of the Kaohsiung exhibition industry has been estimated to be nearly 4 billion yuan.
Mayor Chen Ju points out that in addition to actively striving for both exhibitions to be held in Kaohsiung and to create new exhibitions, the "Global Harbor City Forum" will be held in September this year, inviting participants from five continents and 30 international harbor cities to jointly discuss the development and transformation of harbor cities. She also hopes that more exhibitions related to Kaohsiung industry can move to Kaohsiung to promote industrial development and make Kaohsiung the preferred venue for Asia-Pacific exhibitions.
