Due to the low temperature in winter, the survival rate of chicks is low due to poor cold resistance, unreasonable dietary equipment, lack of defense equipment for brooding, and lack of systematic epidemic prevention.

The measures to improve the survival rate of chicks are:

1. Do a good job of brooding and heat preservation. One week after the chick comes out of the shell, the temperature of the chick should be 30-32 ℃, the chick should be evenly distributed, not in a pile, pay attention to keep the air fresh, strictly prevent the indoor concentration of carbon dioxide and ammonia from rising, cause respiratory diseases, at the same time, the nursery should also prevent moisture.

2. Strengthen the protection measures of brooding and put an end to injuries such as rats and dogs.

3. Rational allocation of brooding diets to meet the growth needs. Protein feed (legumes, cakes, fish meal) should account for 19%, 20% of the diet.

4. Strict implementation of planned immunization and drug prevention: vaccination against Marek's disease at 1 day old, vaccination against Newcastle disease and fowlpox at 7-10 days old, avian influenza vaccine at 15 days old, prevention of coccidiosis with sulfonamides after 10 days old, and prevention of avian cholera at 3 months old.
