There is a large gap in planting density of sweet pepper, and the number of main branches retained is the same, which virtually reduces the yield. Because there are also four main branches on each sweet pepper, and 2000 and 1200 trees per mu of land, the yield is poor on these 800s. Therefore, if 1200 sweet peppers want to catch up with or exceed 2000 sweet peppers, we must leave one more two strong side branches on the basis of the original four main branches, so as to ensure the yield.

The purpose of pruning sweet pepper is to improve the ventilation and light transmission conditions in the field, improve the photosynthetic efficiency, promote the robust growth of the main branches, concentrate nutrients to supply the fruiting branches, help to produce more peppers, bear big peppers, and improve the commerciality of pepper fruits. At the same time, it is also to make every pepper branch and every fruit have reasonable growth space to ensure good quality and high yield of sweet pepper. Especially for colored peppers, fruit shape and coloring are directly related to the price and income, which is very important. Therefore, in the management of sweet pepper, reasonable pruning and retaining branches are essential.

Therefore, when pruning sweet peppers, we should first look at the planting density, not mechanically copy the experience of others. The growth space of sweet pepper per mu is certain, and the number of branches suitable for growth is also certain. The planting practice shows that it is better to keep the number of main branches of sweet pepper between 5000 and 7000 per mu. In other words, when the planting density is 2000 plants, it is suitable to leave 3-4 main branches per plant, while when planting 1200 plants per mu, there are 2 strong lateral branches on the basis of 4 main branches per plant.
