For the varieties that mature earlier, the fruit on the new shoot of the terminal bud matures early and the fruit is also large, so generally do not truncate this kind of fruiting branches. On the other hand, it is not necessary to pay special attention to the retention of other varieties, because the new shoots of this kind of figs can blossom and bear fruit, except for 1 to 2 buds at the base. After the extension of the terminal bud of some varieties, several buds under it can also produce more prosperous new shoots, leaving one or two new shoots with suitable orientation and strong growth, and the excess shoots can be removed; the varieties with weak germinating ability need not be thinned, through short cutting, to promote the germination of new shoots in the middle and lower parts.

Young trees should be pruned lightly. In order to rapidly increase the number of branches, expand the crown, promote flower formation and bear fruit early, the amount of pruning should be light during the shaping period. And adjust the main branches, the extended branches of the main and lateral branches should be moderately short, the weak branches should be cut lightly, and the large branches that cross or parallel with each other in the crown should be properly thinned. After pruning, the wound should be treated in time, the small wound should be smeared with healing anticorrosive film, and the large wound should be sprayed with disinfection and sterilization to avoid wound infection.

Focus on fruiting trees and properly remove dense branches and thin and weak branches, because the annual branches of figs can almost become fruiting mother branches except long ones; with the increase of tree age, the fruiting part gradually moves out, resulting in the base empty. the weak side branches and auxiliary branches should be removed from the base to promote the latent buds to sprout new shoots and enrich the basal branches.
