2016 Hakka Tung Flower Festival Tongyou Nantou starts running on April 16.
2016 Hakka Tung Flower Festival and Tongyou Nantou series of activities will take turns in Nantou, Puli, Guo's surname and Zhushan from April 16 onwards. The Nantou County government welcomes people from all walks of life to enjoy tung flowers in Nantou and experience the good customs of Hakkas.
At the time of the transition between spring and summer, when tung flowers are in full bloom, Nantou County is one of the earliest counties and cities in Taiwan to bloom tung flowers. Hong Ruizhi, secretary general of Nantou County government, said that tung flowers represent the persevering spirit of Hakkas, beautiful tung flowers, and Hakkas value life and respect the meaning of mountains and forests. This year, Hakka Tung Flower Festival and Tongyou Nantou series of activities were jointly attended by four townships and cities, including Nantou, Puli, Guo's surname and Zhushan, during the period from April 16 to May 1. Four townships and cities held wonderful tung flower festival activities in turn during the weekend holidays.
Lin Rongsen, director of culture in Nantou County, said that in order to promote the integration of Hakka culture with the local industry, this year, for the first time, it cooperated with the academic unit Nankai University of Science and Technology to develop and produce tung flower cultural and creative products combining Puli lacquer art and bamboo ware. A limited number of creative and promotional materials were sent to the participating people at the events in four townships and cities.
