In the middle and later stages of lactation, the milk yield of most cows began to decline gradually, generally by 68%. At the same time, after pregnancy, the nutritional needs of cows are less than before.

In the middle stage of lactation, the feed intake reaches the peak, the appetite is good, and the feed conversion rate is also high. we should grasp this characteristic, let them eat more hay, replenish concentrate properly, and maintain milk yield and milk fat rate at a high level. to minimize its reduction. The ratio of concentrate to roughage in the mid-lactation diet can be controlled at 40 / 45 / 60 / 55.

In the later stage of lactation, the milk yield of dairy cows has decreased greatly, and it is easier to raise at this time, but we should use this stage to restore the body condition of dairy cows. It is generally believed that the recovery of physical condition in this period is more economical and safer than that in the dry period. Because from the point of view of the conversion efficiency of feed energy and the economic effect of feeding, the organs of lactating cattle are still in a strong state of activity, and the total efficiency of transforming feed metabolic energy into body tissue is higher than that in dry milk period. in addition, there is still milk production potential to be tapped, so cows are rarely overfed, so it is more appropriate to restore their body condition.

For newly pregnant cows (2Mel 3 years old), their growth needs should also be taken into account. Generally, 2-year-old cows can increase their nutrition by 20% and 10% according to feeding standards on the basis of maintenance needs.
