Piglets refer to newborn piglets, which grow to about 30 kilograms, all called piglets. The physiological characteristics of piglets are low temperature tolerance, imperfect digestive function and lack of innate immunity, but they grow and develop rapidly. If there is a lack of nutrition in feed, especially the lack of trace elements iron and selenium, it may cause anemia, diarrhea or disease resistance of piglets. Therefore, attention must be paid to iron and selenium supplements in piglets.

First, the reason why piglets supplement iron and selenium.

The main results are as follows: 1. The storage of iron in piglets is insufficient at birth. At birth, the storage of iron in piglets is only about 50 mg, but its daily iron requirement is 10 mg. Newborn piglets do not get enough iron from breast milk, and breast milk can only supply 1 mg a day. If iron is not supplemented in time, it is easy to cause iron deficiency anemia in piglets.

2. At present, most feed manufacturers use high copper to promote growth, which seriously affects the absorption of iron.

3. Iron deficiency will lead to low immune function.

4. Selenium is a component of glutathione system, which plays a very important role in the antioxidant mechanism of cells. Selenium deficiency will make cells unable to effectively neutralize free radicals and be damaged. Selenium plays an important role in the maintenance of the highly oxygen-consuming immune system.

5. Because piglets often lack selenium during weaning, and selenium deficiency will lead to morula heart disease.

6. Selenium deficiency in piglets is easy to suffer from leukomyopathy and liver necrosis.

Second, the method of iron and selenium supplement for piglets.

1. Iron supplements should be given to piglets 2-3 days after birth. The commonly used methods are: first, intramuscular injection of iron supplement (hemin, iron dextran, etc.), 150 mg per piglet neck intramuscular injection The second is oral iron-copper mixture, with 2.5g ferrous sulfate, 2.5g cobalt chloride, 1g copper sulfate and 10g yeast powder, dissolved in water to 1000 ml, filtered with gauze, 0.25ml / kg body weight, orally or coated on sow nipples, or mixed in piglet feed and drinking water; third, set clean loess or laterite in the circle for piglets to lick.

2. Selenium supplementation was given to piglets 3-5 days after birth. The commonly used methods are: first, intramuscular injection of selenium, selenium and vitamin E have synergistic antioxidation, 0.1% sodium selenite solution, 1 ml per head, vitamin E1-2 ml, intramuscular injection; the second is to choose the mixture containing selenium in animal blood to supplement iron to supplement selenium; or rich iron 1 ml (containing iron 150 mg, sodium selenite 1 mg) intramuscular injection.
