The growth rate of piglets determines the cost and benefit of pig farm to a great extent. If the growth rate of piglets is fast and the ratio of feed to meat is low, the resources occupied will be less and the cost will naturally decrease. So, in the breeding process, what reasons will lead to the slow growth rate of piglets?

I. stress of tooth cutting, tail cutting and castration

After birth, piglets need to adapt to the external environment, and in this process, they are also affected by some man-made stress factors. These include: tooth cutting, tail amputation and castration. We know that the purpose of tooth-cutting is to prevent piglets from biting each other during milk grabbing and causing nipple damage to sows; tail cutting is to prevent each other from biting each other's tails, so that piglets can grow rapidly; and castration is also to facilitate management, speed up fattening and reduce feed-to-meat ratio. The tooth cutting, tail amputation and castration of piglets in intensive pig farms have to be completed within 1 week after birth, all of which will cause great pain to piglets. If effective measures can not be taken to make piglets recover from stress as soon as possible, it will cause insufficient breast milk intake and slow weight gain of piglets during lactation, thus affecting feed intake after weaning and retarding piglets' growth. Moreover, when the operation is improper and the disinfection is not strict, it is easy to form wound infection, which leads to the disease or death of piglets.

? 2. Unscientific feeding and management

1. The influence of environmental stress factors on piglets. Such as poor heat preservation in delivery room and nursery in winter, poor ventilation and heat dissipation in summer, cold and heat stress caused by environmental changes in the process of transformation, etc., are easy to affect the normal feeding of piglets, and even lead to disease.

2. The environmental management of pig house is extensive, which is not suitable for the growth and development of piglets. Especially in winter, the piggery is poorly ventilated and the feces are not cleaned in time, resulting in the accumulation of harmful gases such as ammonia and hydrogen sulfide, and the oxygen content is too low; the environment is dry, dust contains a large number of pathogens, resulting in difficulty in breathing and high incidence of infectious diseases in piglets.

? Third, the weaning of piglets is unreasonable

The unreasonable situation of weaning in large-scale pig farms is mainly shown in the following aspects:

1, the weaning time is unreasonable, the pig farm does not choose the weaning time according to the pig breed or growth status, but weaning according to a period of time all the year round. In addition, the weaning time is too early, the resistance and adaptability of piglets are insufficient, and the body is weak; the weaning time is too late, which affects the utilization rate of sows, and it is difficult for piglets to adapt to teaching trough feed and conservation feed.

2. The method of weaning is unreasonable. For convenience, many pig farms choose one-off weaning. When you reach the right age, you will be weaned and transferred to the nursery. This practice is easy to increase weaning stress.

3. Improper treatment after weaning. Piglets have to adapt to stress such as changing and herding after weaning, but many pig farms do not manage piglets in the early stage of conservation very well at this time, and the addition of trace elements in feed and the comfort of the feeding environment can not meet the requirements.

? IV. Piglets are not fed in time.

The purpose of piglet supplementation is to stimulate the development of digestive organs and improve digestive function during lactation, to supplement the nutrients needed for piglet growth, and to make piglets gradually adapt to the change of feed types. Many pig farms do not pay enough attention to feeding, starting to feed teaching trough only 3-5 days before weaning, and simply using finished product to teach piglets to eat freely. It is difficult for piglets to accept solid trough feed, and the feeding time of solid trough feed is too short, which may lead to the piglets unable to adapt to the trough feed during weaning and the increase of weaning weightlessness.

? 5. Diseases of piglets

Disease is also an important reason for the slow growth of piglets. Disease factors include a variety of:

1. Diseases caused by excessive content of mycotoxin in feed. Mycotoxin in feed has always been an important factor affecting pig farm production. The accumulation of mycotoxin in sows can reduce the milk yield of sows and the content of maternal antibodies in colostrum, reduce the intake of breast milk of piglets, and can not get enough nutrition and antibodies. And many mycotoxins can be transmitted through breast milk, causing piglets to get sick.

2. Parasitic diseases. Many parasitic diseases are consumptive diseases. Although the mortality rate of piglets after infection is not high, it will reduce the feed conversion rate, slow or even stop the growth of piglets.

3. Virus and bacterial diseases. When bacterial and viral infections cause physical damage to piglets, it will lead to a decline in physical function, a decrease in feed intake, and even diet abstinence. Especially some bacterial diseases, septicemia caused by endotoxin, the damage is generally systemic, it is difficult to recover.

VI. Error in immune health care procedure

Mistakes in immune health care for piglets include:

The main results are as follows: 1. the piglets were immunized prematurely, and the vaccine began when the immune organs of piglets were not fully developed and could not establish a normal immune response in the early stage of lactation.

2. Completely rely on vaccine immunization to prevent and control infectious diseases, and there are many kinds of vaccines. If there are too many frequent vaccinations, it is easy to make piglets resist injection stress for a long time and can not grow normally.

3. The health care scheme is unreasonable, it is customary to add antibiotics in the feed for a long time, and blindly use nutritional supplement feed additives. The palatability of antibiotics and the absorbability of nutrients in feed additives will affect the growth and development of piglets. Cao Yonghui
