The optimum temperature for pepper seed germination was 25-30 ℃, and it was not easy to germinate when the temperature was below 15 ℃. The suitable temperature for seedling growth was 25-27 ℃ in daytime and 18-20 ℃ at night. The soil temperature should be above 18 ℃.

Pepper is generally sown from October to November in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, from February to April in North China and Northeast China, and from December to January in South China. The seedling age is 90-100 days in the south and about 60 days in the north. When planting, pepper generally requires a seedling height of 18-25 cm, with 9-14 true leaves, complete cotyledons, large and thick leaves, with large buds and well-developed roots.

Pepper seeds can spread many diseases, so the seeds should be disinfected before sowing. Pepper can be sown with dry or wet seeds, or even sprouting, sowing 15-20 grams per square meter of seedbed. 50% of the seeds should remove straw and plastic film immediately when they emerge, and spray some water at noon (in order to increase the water temperature, put the water into the greenhouse in advance to increase the temperature) to prevent "wearing a hat". After the seedlings came out, the film on the small arch shed was removed during the day, the light was more visible, the wind was moderate at noon, and the temperature was kept at 20-25 ℃ in the daytime and 15-18 ℃ at night. The bed soil is not whitened and not watered. Watering should be carried out at noon on a sunny day. Ventilation and moisture drainage should be carried out after watering.

Pepper is suitable for moving seedlings with two leaves in one heart. It is generally transplanted in a nutrition bowl, with each plant moved. The diameter of the nutrition bowl is 8 cm × 8 cm, 130-140 plants per square meter. The management of pepper seedling stage is mainly temperature control, keeping 23-25 ℃ during the day and 13-15 ℃ at night, and paying attention to heat preservation and anti-freezing in cold weather. To strengthen ventilation in sunny days or cloudy, rainy and snowy days, the small arch shed film in the greenhouse should be opened to increase light transmission and enhance seedling resistance. With the growth of seedlings, the ability to adapt to low temperature is gradually enhanced, which is different from tomato and eggplant. Therefore, the temperature management should be a slow decline. Throughout the seedling stage, it is necessary to keep the bed soil warm and moist and keep the seedlings growing well. The main diseases and insect pests of pepper at seedling stage are quenching disease, Botrytis cinerea, Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and aphids, which should be controlled in time.
