The first thing for pruning and renewal is to choose the variety with strong growth potential. The specific operations are as follows: both autumn and spring sweet peppers can adopt this technology. Autumn sweet pepper is generally carried out at the end of July and early August, while spring sweet pepper is carried out at the end of February and early March, that is, the normal planting time of greenhouse sweet pepper. The sweet pepper is pruned and renewed, leaving 5-6 leaves in the second or third branch and cut flat. After the original fruiting main branch germinates a new bud of about 5cm, cut off the remaining branches.

In spring, after growing new branches of 2-3 cm, we should see more light within the appropriate range of temperature to ensure that the new branches do not grow too long.

Due to the wound of the pruned plant and the high humidity in the shed, it is prone to disease. It is suggested that protective agents such as chlorothalonil or agricultural streptomycin should be sprayed once to prevent disease infection.

Thirdly, after the lateral branches germinate, it is easy to appear the phenomenon that the buds are too dense, so it is necessary to remove some weak branches and buds properly. When the tender shoots grew to about 10cm, 4 strong and pest-free branches were selected as fruiting branches.
