1. Cows should be fed with enough warm bran, salt and calcium carbonate to make gruel about 15 kg (1 kg ~ 2 kg of wheat bran, 100 g ~ 150 g of salt and 50 g of calcium carbonate) after giving birth, which can warm the abdomen, satisfy hunger and increase abdominal pressure, which is beneficial to the excretion of placenta. However, we should pay attention to the salt feeding should not be too much, otherwise it will lead to breast edema, while feeding the cow high-quality, soft hay 1 kg ~ 2 kg.

2. Cows should be driven to stand up as soon as possible after delivery, so as to reduce bleeding and at the same time facilitate the reduction of reproductive organs. In order to prevent uterine prolapse, the cow can be drawn slowly for about 15 minutes.

3. Within 8 hours after delivery, the placenta can generally fall off on its own. If it does not fall off after 24 hours, attention should be paid to the discharge of lochia. If there is lochia occlusive phenomenon, that is, only dense transparent secretions but no dark red liquid lochia can be seen within a few days after delivery, it should be dealt with in time to prevent diseases such as septicemia or hysteritis.

4. In the first few days after calving, the control and regulation of blood circulation and mammary acinar activity in the cow's breast did not reach the normal state, the breast swelling was severe, and the internal pressure was also very high. Therefore, if it is a high-yield cow, all the milk in the breast must not be milked at this time, otherwise it will aggravate microvascular leakage, massive loss of blood calcium and blood sugar, and further aggravate breast edema due to the significant decrease of intramammary pressure, which can lead to postpartum paralysis of high-yield dairy cows and death.

5. For cows with severe postpartum breast edema, they should fully massage their breasts after each milking and apply them for 5 to 10 minutes (preferably with warm magnesium sulfate or sodium sulfate saturated solution) to promote the disappearance of breast edema as soon as possible.

6. If the cow is fed with warm motherwort brown sugar water (500 grams of motherwort, 10 kg of water, 500 grams of brown sugar after frying) once or twice a day for 2 ~ 3 days, it can promote the excretion of lochia and the recovery of postpartum uterus.
