The pregnancy rate of sows is the percentage of the number of pregnant sows in estrus in a certain period of time, and the pregnancy rate directly affects the fecundity of sows, so improving the pregnancy rate of sows is an effective means to improve the fecundity of sows. How to improve the fecundity of sows?

? 1. Strengthen management

1.1 first of all, sows with good health, normal estrus and easy conception should be selected for breeding; secondly, the surveillance, immunization and treatment of various epidemic diseases affecting pregnancy in parturient and reserve sows should be done well, and can be eliminated if necessary; the hygiene of the delivery room of pregnant sows should be qualified and the midwives should be skilled in delivery techniques to prevent the occurrence of endometritis.

1.2 the pregnancy rate of sows can be reduced due to mycotoxin, hot weather, overweight or overweight, and insufficient vitamin A, E, D in feed, so sow feed should be nutritious, good quality, clean and fresh. At the same time, sows should be given proper exercise and feed restriction to ensure the best body condition.

two。 Semen selection

In order to improve the pregnancy rate of sows, semen from breeding boars with good health, high sexual desire, large ejaculation and high sperm activity should be collected, and the semen should be scientifically diluted, preserved and strictly checked after semen collection. It is found that the semen with low motility, deformity and thin semen should be thrown away.

? 3. Mating time

3.1 estrus identification

Estrus sows are agitated, anorexia or do not eat, arch or jump circles, make strange noises, actively accept boars climbing or climbing other sows, vulva moist, swollen, congested, light red or purplish red, frequent urination, when pressing their waist and back, bow back to waist, tail up, stand still, push forward its buttocks reaction is strong, with equipment to provoke its vulva when standing still.

3.2 mating time

First mating sows should achieve not only sexual maturity but also physical maturity. Estrus sows that meet the requirements of first mating should be mated for the first time in the morning of the second day of estrus, and then mated every 10 hours or so, continuous breeding for 2 to 3 times, and finished within 2 days. The sows were mated for the first time in the afternoon on the morning of estrus, the second and third times in the morning and afternoon on the second day, the first time in the morning on the second day of estrus in the afternoon, the second and third times in the morning and afternoon on the third day, respectively, and finished in 2 days.

In summer, sows should be mated on an empty stomach (2 hours after eating or 1 hour before eating) when the ambient temperature is low in the morning or after 6 p.m., and sows that are in estrus 7 days after weaning or reserve sows that are late in estrus should be mated at estrus.

? 4. Mating method

4.1 the breeding methods of pigs are natural mating, artificial assisted mating and artificial insemination, natural mating is that boars and sows are raised together and mate at will when they are in estrus; artificial assisted mating is that boars and sows are raised separately and meet only in fixed places during mating, and artificial mating is needed. Artificial insemination is a mating method in which the semen of breeding boars is collected by semen collection instruments and then instilled into the uterus of pregnant sows after examination and treatment.

4.2 compared with natural mating and artificial assisted mating, artificial insemination not only has the advantages of more effective use of superior boar breed resources, speeding up the breeding of superior breeds, reducing the spread of related diseases, significantly increasing the proportion of sows and boars, and reducing the cost of breeding boars, more importantly, it can effectively improve the pregnancy rate, so artificial insemination should be promoted.

During artificial insemination, the technician grabbed the vulva of the sow with his left hand and inserted the insemination device into the vaginal 40cm with his right hand, and injected the semen slowly when he felt there was resistance. After the insemination was finished, the semen bottle was lowered for about 5s, and if there was semen reflux, the semen was input again. After no semen reflux, the outer end of the vas deferens was folded and the static 5~10min was slowly pulled out with a semen storage bottle.

? 5. Pregnancy diagnosis

Pregnancy diagnosis is a means to judge whether the mating sows are pregnant or not by means of non-return observation, boar estrus test or estrogen determination about one month after mating. It is found that the sows that have not been successfully mated are not matched or eliminated in time.
