The autumn flowering of fruit trees not only affects the next annual yield, but also consumes the tree nutrition and weakens the tree potential, which is very disadvantageous to the fruit trees overwintering.

First, the inducement of autumn flowering

First, different varieties have different adaptability to external environmental conditions. When there is high temperature and drought in summer and autumn and there is no timely irrigation to resist drought, the absorption of nitrogen nutrition by fruit trees decreases, the growth potential weakens, and the vegetative growth is poor. At this time, the plant growth center of fruit tree varieties which are easy to respond to external drought begins to transform from vegetative growth to reproductive growth, and the possibility of flowering in autumn increases.

Second, it is easy to bloom in autumn if the orchard is not managed properly. The orchards with improper shaping and pruning, chaotic crown structure, many upright branches and irregular tips are easy to cause a large number of fallen leaves due to poor ventilation and light transmission of the crown. Due to the early defoliation, the nutrient storage level of the tree decreased, resulting in poor flower bud differentiation, and some entered the dormant period ahead of time, leading to secondary flowering in autumn. Some orchards re-apply chemical fertilizer, no application, less organic fertilizer or no fruit fertilizer, resulting in poor tree potential, but also cause a large number of fallen leaves, and promote the phenomenon of secondary flowering.

Third, the harm of diseases and insect pests. There are many kinds of diseases and insect pests in pear, peach, plum and other fruit trees. if the control time is improper or not, it will often lead to a large number of fallen leaves in the orchard and go into dormancy early. When there is more rainfall from September to October and the climate is suitable, autumn flowering will occur.

Fourth, weather factors. There is a lot of water falling in summer and stagnant water affects the root growth and absorption of fruit trees and weakens the tree potential. If there is another high temperature and drought in autumn, it is easy to lead to a large number of fallen leaves and secondary flowering in the orchard. If the spring flowers bloom in the same climatic conditions from October to November and the soil nitrogen and water supply is sufficient, the flower buds are very easy to germinate and bloom out of season.

II. Preventive measures

In order to prevent fruit trees from blooming in autumn, the following measures can be taken:

First, re-apply organic fertilizer to enhance the tree potential. According to the growth characteristics of peach, pear and other fruit trees, fertilizer should be applied during the flower bud differentiation period, mainly with available nitrogen fertilizer, combined with phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, and timely fertilization and foliar fertilizer should be applied to enhance the tree potential.

Second, rational irrigation. For low-lying orchards, Rain Water should timely remove stagnant water in summer, fight drought and protect leaves in autumn and spray foliar fertilizer in time.

Third, do a good job in pest prevention and control. During the growing period of fruit trees, the control of diseases and pests in the critical period should be done and sprayed in time; after defoliation and before sprouting in spring, the branches of diseases and pests, overdense branches, prosperous branches, fruits and leaves should be cut off, and the ashes should be buried deeply after concentrated burning. after defoliation in winter, the stone-sulfur mixture with 3-5 Baume degrees should be injected once to reduce the base of diseases and insects.

Fourth, the treatment of secondary flowering. If this happens on a growing tree and a small number of flowers bloom in autumn, the effect on the tree potential is not natural. It is necessary to take measures to control the growth of too many buds, otherwise it will consume a lot of nutrients and weaken the tree potential, which is not conducive to overwintering and improving the fruit setting rate next year.
