Nutrition intake is related to dietary nutrient concentration and daily intake. The daily feed intake of newly weaned piglets is less, so the dietary nutrient concentration is relatively high to meet the needs. Therefore, the key points to increase feed intake are as follows: piglets are easy to get new diets; pellet feeds are used to promote feed intake; diets with higher concentration are initially used; with the increase of feed intake, the dietary concentration is reduced rapidly.

Setting the dietary specification should first set the lowest energy concentration. Piglets below 10kg do not have the ability to obtain sufficient energy by adjusting feed intake, so the dietary energy concentration should not be lower than that of 14.57MJ/kg (metabolic energy). With the increase of piglet weight, the energy concentration can be reduced, but it is not recommended to be lower than 13.61MJ/kg (metabolic energy). Proper feeding and management in the early stages of conservation pigs will accelerate the growth rate of piglets in order to maximize the genetic potential of muscle growth. This can reduce the age of reaching the body weight on the market, thereby reducing feed consumption. And the faster the early growth rate, the higher the lean meat rate of commercial pigs.
