Design requirements of lactation pigsty

When designing the enclosure of suckling piglets, we should consider not only their commonness, but also their differences, and meet the special requirements of feeding and management at this stage, that is, sows and piglets eat different feeds; sows and piglets have different requirements for ambient temperature; protect piglets from being crushed and trampled to death by sows.

According to practical experience, an ideal litter-giving-and-feeding home is divided into three parts:

The first is the sow delivery limit bar: the function of the sow delivery limit bar is to restrict the sow to turn around and retreat, and the lower part of the limit bar is blocked by a steel pipe to prevent the sow from pressing the piglet when lying down. The size of the limit bar is generally 2-2.1 meters long, 0.6-0.65 meters wide and 1 meter high. The front of the limit bar is equipped with sow troughs and drinking fountains.

Second, the activity area of suckling piglets: surrounded by a fence with a height of 0.45 meters to 0.5 meters, in which piglets move, feed and drink water. Feeding troughs and drinking fountains are installed in the activity area.

Third, piglet incubator: the purpose of piglet incubator is local heating to meet the temperature needs of piglets. The incubator can be made of wood or concrete, with a size of 1 meter long, 0.6 meters high and 0.6 meters wide. A small door is left on one side of the box near the ground for piglets to enter and exit. The size of the door is 0.3 meters high and 0.2 meters wide. Infrared light bulb or electric hot plate can be used for local heating. If there are no above conditions, you can also mat grass on the pig bed, which can keep warm and moistureproof.
