According to economic use, duck breeds can be divided into three types: meat type, egg type and meat and egg type. Egg type ducks mainly have the following varieties:

Kaki-Campbell duck, originated from Britain, is a world-famous egg duck with wide adaptability, high egg production, low feed consumption, strong disease resistance; mild temperament, not easy to be stressed, suitable for captivity. Female ducks lay eggs at 120~135 days old, with an annual egg yield of 250~270 and an egg weight of 70~ 75g.

Cherry Valley duck CV2000 was bred by Cherry Valley Duck Breeding Company in England. The laying age of female duck was 140 days, the average annual egg production was 285, and the egg weight was about 75 grams.

In addition, there are You County duck, Jingjiang duck, Sansui duck, Taiwan duck and so on. The marks of high-yield laying ducks were early sexual maturity, early laying, long laying cycle and short resting period. It is mainly identified from the following four aspects.

Look at the feet. When the duck neck is lifted, if the duck feet are straight down, each toe is extended, and the duck does not dance randomly, it is a high-yield laying duck; if the feet are bent up, the toe webs are close and the duck is constantly moving, it is a low-yield laying duck.

Second look at the body. High-yield laying ducks have bulging eyes, large and spirited, long and wide mouths, obvious upper palate protrusions, long necks, broad backs and breasts, neat and shiny feathers, loose and moist cloaca; low-yield laying ducks have small sunken eyes, large heads and short necks, flat tips of mouths, narrow backs and breasts, loose feathers, tight cloaca, wrinkled and dry.

Three look molting. Late molting, short time, few times and active, for high-yield laying duck; molting early, long time, many times, gluttonous sleep, light fat does not lay eggs, for low-yield laying duck.

Four look at laying eggs. High-yield laying duck eggs hard shell, oval and shiny, strong body fat; low-yield laying duck like soft shell eggs, deformed eggs, weak, poor fat disability.
