In order to promote industrial energy conservation and carbon reduction, the Industrial Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (hereinafter referred to as the Industry Bureau) operates a manufacturing energy saving and carbon reduction service mission (referred to as the service mission). Assist factory equipment or system energy diagnosis, energy conservation and carbon reduction potential assessment, implementation of system efficiency improvement, equipment replacement, thermal energy recovery and utilization, fuel substitution and other types of improvement programs. Under the active promotion of the Industry Bureau, more than 2800 factories were tutored in 1998-104, providing about 9500 improvement proposals. After improvement, the factory can save 533000 cubic kilowatt-hours of oil equivalent, save 1.274 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, save 8.55 billion yuan in energy expenditure, and reduce carbon by 1.637 million metric tons of CO2e.

In addition, in addition to promoting technical guidance, the Industry Bureau continues to establish local reduction methodology. at present, 14 items have been examined, approved and announced by the Environmental Protection Agency of the Executive Yuan to assist the industry in the exchange of greenhouse gases. the energy saving and carbon reduction improvement efficiency of the industry has been verified as a carbon right, which will be applied to carbon rights exchange or trading in the future.

Recently, with the rapid development of ICT technology, in order to enhance the industry's demand for real-time grasp of electricity information and the pursuit of rational energy use, the service team further combined ICT technology in 104 to further improve the efficiency of industrial energy conservation and energy management. through factory energy data analysis and on-site survey of expert consultants, identify major energy consumption equipment, give priority to the introduction of digital electricity meters, cloud technology and data analysis tools, etc. Build intelligent energy-saving monitoring system to create intelligent energy-saving solutions.

The Industry Bureau said that many successful cases show that the effect of energy conservation and carbon reduction has also made a breakthrough, and it is expected that more factories will actively follow up and make joint efforts for sustainable Taiwan to meet the challenge of global carbon reduction trend.
