The management of potato is very important when it is in seedling stage. The main measures are:

1. Cultivate the soil in time to protect the whole seedling. Most of the soil in potato field is yellow loam, with large soil particles, poor water holding capacity and fast evaporation of soil water. At present, because the dry soil layer is 10-15 cm, and the size of potato seed potato is about 10 cm, it will be affected by drought after emergence. For this kind of seedlings, shallow and medium ploughing should be carried out in time to cover the soil layer, cut off the soil capillaries, slow down the rate of water evaporation, prolong the survival time of seedlings and try their best to preserve the seedlings. The time of covering soil is controlled at 30% of the young bud top soil.

two。 Timely fertilization to promote strong seedlings. At high altitude, there are some night fluvo-aquic soil, mainly loam type, small soil particles, strong soil water retention capacity, and good soil moisture at present. After emergence of this kind of field, about 10 kg of urea should be applied per mu, and the seedlings should be raised quickly to ensure strong seedlings. The method of fertilization is sprinkled among the seedlings and then ploughed to cultivate the soil.

3. Anti-transpiration agent is sprayed on leaves. After the potato leaves are fully expanded, anti-transpiration agents can be used for foliar spraying. Antitranspirant can form a protective film on the surface of leaves and slow down water evaporation. Anti-transpiration agents can be selected sodium bisulfite, humic acid, calcium chloride, fulvic acid (FA), triadimefon, crown ether, etc., according to the product instructions.

4. Check seedlings and replant. If the lack of seedlings is more than 30%, early-maturing corn, kidney beans and other crops can be planted. Through local intercropping and interplanting, the utilization efficiency of the field can be improved, the loss can be reduced, and the income can be increased. If there is effective rainfall soon after emergence, side branches can also be cut off from the base of normal potato plants in rainy days to reduce seedling deficiency.

5. Underground pest control. Potato is vulnerable to underground pests after sowing and seedling stage, resulting in rotten seeds and lack of seedlings. therefore, it is necessary to make a plan for the control of underground pests. The underground pest is mainly ground tiger, which can be sprayed with phoxim 2000 times 40% phoxim or 2.5% deltamethrin EC to the ground tiger under 3 years old.
