Management technology

⑴ after: about 10 days to check survival, the sign of survival is petiole shedding or bud sprouting, did not survive timely replacement.

⑵ de-sprouting: remove the sprouts from the rootstock to promote budding, usually once every 10 days.

⑶ cutting stock: after the survival of the grafting bud, the rootstock can be cut off about 2cm above the grafting bud to stimulate the growth of the grafting bud.

⑷ unbinding: when the grafting shoot grows above 5cm, it can be untied and bandaged. Unbinding too early or too late can affect growth.

⑸ heart picking: when the new grafting shoots grow to about 30cm, heart picking is carried out to facilitate safe overwintering.

⑹ disinfestation: if the occurrence of wood-lifting inchworm, diamondback moth and other insect pests, you can use the liquid of 2000 times to kill.

⑺ cold protection: walnut field grafting needs to survive the winter and prevent cold in the same year. Before the soil is frozen, it is possible to bury the soil to prevent cold, and the plastic film that cannot be buried to prevent cold can be used to wrap it. The next spring sprouting period is timely unearthed or unwrapped.

Matters needing attention

⑴ walnut is grafted with green branches in the field, and it is best to pick the scion nearby and pick it with you. If you need to transport or store the scion for a short period of time, you must do a good job of moisturizing.

The grafting site of ⑵ should be selected on the branches below 3 years old. The grafting site is too thick and the skin is too thick, which affects the survival rate.

The grafting of ⑶ larger rootstocks should be reshaped first and then grafted. And to connect the buds on both sides of the branches, in order to facilitate the opening angle, ventilation and light.

Full leaf buds or mixed buds should be selected for ⑷ grafting, and male flower buds should not be used as scions. The use of shrunken buds as scions generally cannot germinate in the same year.

The operation of ⑸ grafting should be rapid and the bandage should be strict.

⑹ pay attention to listen to the weather forecast, try to avoid subsequent rain, so as not to affect survival.
