Small-scale duck farmers should pay attention to the following when preparing their own feed:

1. Choose feed according to local conditions. Try to make use of local feed resources, to consider the nutritional value, but also pay attention to the price, in order to reduce costs.

2. Adjust the feed formula to ensure the nutritional needs of ducks. The matching diet should be close to the feeding standard, so as not to cause lack of nutrition or excessive nutrition, resulting in some nutritional deficiencies or economic losses. At the same time, the proportion of protein and energy in duck feed should be balanced, otherwise it will increase feed consumption.

3. Avoid using mildew or raw materials containing harmful substances to prepare diets. The amount of feed should not be too much each time, and it is appropriate to finish it within a week to keep the feed fresh. During the period of high temperature and high humidity, self-made feed or purchased feed will cause feed fermentation deterioration and mildew when placed for too long or too long in the feed trough. In summer, it is best to use up on the same day. Keep the feed fresh.

4. Feed must be fully mixed, especially various additives such as vitamins, trace elements and medicines. Pay attention to mixing well, otherwise it will cause adverse consequences.

5. The diet should be relatively stable, and if it must be changed, there should be an one-week transition period, especially during the peak period of egg production, so as not to cause a decrease in the laying rate.

6. The content of crude fiber in the diet should not be too high, preferably about 3%.

7. In summer, carbonate and vitamin C should be added to the diet or drinking water to maintain electrolyte balance and reduce the adverse effects caused by stress factors.
