The breeding of ewes is the basis of the normal development of the flock, and the good or bad feeding is an important factor in the development of the flock and the improvement of quality. Ewes are responsible for breeding, pregnancy, lactation and other reproductive tasks; the body condition and feeding level of ewes have a direct impact on the survival, growth and development of lambs, so the nutrition level of ewes can not be relaxed all the year round. A good nutritional level should be maintained in order to achieve the goal of multiple births, prolific, productive and strong.

The nutritional level and body condition of ewes in the early stage of mating play a decisive role in estrus, ovulation, mating and conception. Full-price nutrition and middle and upper body condition can promote the increase of ewe estrus and ovulation, on the contrary, serious lack of nutrition will lead to the postponement of proestrus, postpartum anestrus and estrus, prolong the interval between lambing and decrease the reproductive performance of ewes. Therefore, short-term preferential feeding was given 45 days before mating to make ewes get enough protein, minerals and vitamins to maintain good physical condition, which can make ewes estrus early, ovulate more, estrus neatly, concentrate lambs, and increase conception rate and multiple pregnancy rate.
