Green onion is a kind of fertilizer-loving vegetable. For a long time, many vegetable farmers are accustomed to trenching and topdressing green onions at one time, which is unscientific. Because this is not only easy to cut off the roots of green onions, but also burn out the tender fibrous roots of green onions due to excessive concentration of fertilization, resulting in the occurrence of dry tips and withered leaves, affecting the quality of green onions and reducing yield, so trenching and topdressing is definitely not good.

The correct fertilization method should be: follow the principle of "eat less and eat more", adopt the way of cultivating soil and pressing fertilizer, from planting to harvest and topdressing for 3-4 times, so as to prevent the fattening of green onions in the later growth stage. Each time, 20 kg of ternary compound fertilizer is applied per mu, or 10 kg of urea and 15 kg of potassium sulfate each; according to the growth period of Welsh onion, the amount of topdressing each time should be slightly more than that of the previous one; when topdressing, fertilizer should be evenly spread on the surface of the root of Welsh onion, and then fertilized with soil to reduce the volatilization loss of fertilizer, promote the softening and elongation of onion, and enhance the ability of wind resistance. The fertilizer should be watered once within two days after fertilization to make the fertilizer dissolve in the soil and decompose quickly so as to promote the growth and development of Welsh onion.
