(1) leveling the land and applying sufficient basic fertilizer: common bean should choose corn, wheat, millet, sorghum and other cereal crops as the previous crop, not continuous cropping or continuous cropping with legume crops. When common bean cotyledons are unearthed, the ability of top soil is weak. If the soil is hardened or the quality of soil preparation is poor, it is easy to emerge unevenly or lack seedlings and break ridges. In addition, common bean roots take root nodules, which requires loose and fertile sandy loam with deep soil layer and good drainage. The land reserved for spring sowing should be ploughed in autumn (such as the northeast and northwest regions) and irrigated about 10 days before spring sowing in the following year. Each hectare can apply 60.8 tons of organic fertilizer and 450 kilograms of calcium superphosphate as base fertilizer, and then plough the land. Because there are more Rain Water in the southern region, it is generally necessary to ridge and sow kidney beans. The ridge is 3 meters wide and the drain between the ridges is 0.3 meters deep. Each ridge is sown with 6 rows of beans. Before or after setting up the ridge, farm manure mixed with plant ash, charcoal ash or potassium sulfate is applied to 10 to 15 tons per hectare.

(2) selecting excellent varieties to ensure seed quality: at present, some excellent varieties have been gradually promoted in production, such as red kidney bean, small white kidney bean, milky kidney bean, early green bean, small black kidney bean with disease resistance and high yield, etc. Bean seeds had better be healthy seeds harvested in the last growing season. Before sowing, drying the seeds for 1 or 2 days can promote the ripening of seeds and increase the germination rate.
