Broiler breeds have the characteristics of strong feeding ability, rapid growth and development, exuberant metabolism, easy fat deposition, inconsistent phylogeny and so on. If they are allowed to feed freely during the breeding period, on the one hand, the body weight of the chicken will be too fat and too large, the motor system and reproductive system will not be coordinated with the overall development, the breeding rate will decrease, the death rate will increase, the egg production of the hen will decrease, the abnormal eggs will increase, and the fertilization ability of the rooster will be poor. Therefore, in order to prevent chickens from overweight, overweight, the consistency of coordinated maturity and body maturity, and effectively control the average body weight of chickens, it is necessary to restrict feeding (feed restriction).

1. Restriction on feeding

1. Methods the degree of feed restriction was mainly based on the average body weight, health status, feed nutrition level and environmental factors, and the feed supply was adjusted weekly to meet the nutritional needs of weekly weight gain. There are three main methods: ① daily feed restriction method, which averages the amount of feed needed for weight gain this week to once a day, which is suitable for chickens aged 4-7 weeks and after 20 weeks, and ② feeding method, that is, feeding once every 2 days to feed the two-day feed needed for weight gain this week. This method is suitable for 7-12-week-old chickens. The "second and fifth" feed restriction method of ③ means to stop feeding for 2 days a week (stop feeding days should be separated from each other) and feed for 5 days. Each feeding day must be fed at one time. The feed quantity is 5% of the total feed needed for the weight gain of chickens this week. This method is suitable for 15-19-week-old chickens.

two。 The feed restriction of broiler breeders during the breeding period should mainly focus on two technical indicators, namely, the average body weight and evenness of the flock:

The average weight of ① is the main index to measure the weight gain of chicken flocks. Sampling and weighing of meat breeder chickens during breeding period is a tedious, meticulous and very important work of feed restriction, and it is one of the important indexes to measure the effect of feed restriction. Weigh the chickens on an empty stomach every weekend, randomly select 5% of the flock, weigh them one by one, calculate the average weight, and determine the feed supply of the flock next week on this basis; generally, it is appropriate to add only 3-5g/ per week, and the weight should be increased less or not, but not reduced; when the weight is below the standard, you should increase the feed appropriately, but not more than 10g/. Any changes in the feeding procedure should refer to the average weight, bone size, obesity and feather coverage of the flock for 2-3 weeks.

The evenness of ② chicken flock is an important index to measure the difference of individual development within the flock. It is generally easy to achieve the goal of weight control in management, but it is not so easy to obtain backup breeder chickens with high uniformity (weight uniformity and sexual maturity uniformity). Weight uniformity is measured as a percentage of the total number of samples in the range of "average weight ±15%". In the later stage of breeding, the population evenness above 80% is qualified chicken flock. We should divide the chickens into strong and weak groups before the weight uniformity of the flock has a downward trend, and weigh and group again before the 8th week and 12th week, so that the evenness will reach a very high level at 15 weeks. it is beneficial to the future weight control and the uniformity of sexual maturity and development. After 15 weeks, the effective control of body condition and sexual maturity uniformity was mainly achieved through the uniform increase of weekly weight gain.

Do a good job in other management

Ensure high-quality diet and drinking water; timely grouping, small groups should be 400-500 animals; maintain appropriate density, 7-15 weeks old 8-10 birds / fish, 16 weeks old 3.6-4.8 mice / fish; provide sufficient feeding space, 7-15 weeks old trough not less than 10 eggs per pig; maintain good environmental control conditions and bedding, light management; regularly do a good job of drug prevention.

In a word, in order to achieve the goal of meat breeder chicken breeding period, we should do a good job of average body weight and evenness of chicken flock. Correct weighing, accurate calculation, standard feeding, sufficient feeding level and fast feeding, maintain the good body condition and uniformity of the flock, cultivate healthy and qualified reserve flocks, and provide a strong guarantee for better production performance during the laying period.
