Pick the buds.

The buds in the middle part of the scion should be selected, and the buds at the upper end and the hidden buds at the lower end should not be used. The size of the bud should be the right size. Too small, too much is not easy to survive. At the same time, budding must have vascular bundles (commonly known as bud pads), which is a channel for the exchange of water and nutrients between buds and rootstocks, without which it is difficult to survive.

Grafting.

When grafting, you must first select the rootstock and pick it up at the same time. Long-distance ear picking (bud) should pay attention to moisturizing. Buds are usually grafted in either a "T" shape or a ring. If you first cut the root neck of the sticker 3cm away from the ground into a "T" shape, the depth is limited to see the xylem and peel off the bark. Then carefully peel off the T-shaped bark of the rootstock with the tip of the knife, and then insert and tie up the buds in time and quickly, exposing only buds and petioles.

After that, the rootstock was loosened and cultivated 10 cm high, and the soil was planed for 10 to 15 days to check the survival condition. After grafting, new high-fat film can also be sprayed to prevent oxidation, prevent bacteria from invading, create a vacuum environment to restrain the drying up of body fluid and improve the survival rate.

When the bud is fresh and light green, the petiole will fall as soon as it is touched, indicating that it has survived. For those who have not been alive, it should be reconnected at the back of the rootstock. (Dani)
