Accurate selection of varieties is a prerequisite for successful cultivation of greenhouse vegetables. At present, there are many varieties in the vegetable seed market, and a considerable number of operators do not fully understand the seed characteristics, lack the basic knowledge of agriculture, and only care about selling seeds to make money. for this reason, every year, some shed vegetable farmers suffer losses. As an old worker of vegetable technology promotion, the author puts forward five problems that should be paid attention to when purchasing seeds to vegetable farmers.

First, do not blindly seek new things. There are several conventional and mass cultivated varieties in each region, which have strong adaptability, high yield and disease resistance, and are very popular in the market. However, some vegetable farmers always think that it is good to sell novel varieties, but in fact, on the contrary, varieties that have not been tested are very easy to fail. Now the vegetable seed market has a wide variety of patterns and a wide range of circulation channels. As soon as you enter the rapeseed store, a hundred flowers blossom. When you ask which variety they say yes, people are at a loss as to what to do, but they still have to make their own decisions. You must have planted or seen a good variety that others have planted for many years. In order to grow novel varieties, it must be planted in a small area for 2-3 years and then planted in a large area.

Second, do not blindly choose and buy non-local varieties. The variety has a relatively strict regional nature. Disease resistance and high yield is a good variety in land A, but it may be a bad variety with disease and low yield in place B. This is why the organism and the natural environment are a unity. For example, last year, a village purchased a tomato variety from other places that had not been planted on a trial basis, resulting in a serious reduction in production and harvest in a large area. The dispute is not over yet, and lessons should be learned.

Third, you can't buy seeds cheaply. At present, many of the seeds sold on the market are hybrid first-generation seeds (especially tomatoes), and the second-generation seeds are seriously separated, degraded and reduced production. The price of some hybrid seeds is high, especially some seeds imported from abroad are close to gold (1712.90, 2.60, 0.15%), a few cents a piece. When some seed dealers see that they are profitable, they use second-generation seeds or other seeds to replace them and sell them at low prices, causing huge losses to producers. Therefore, you can not only look at the instructions and packaging, but also look at the credibility of the seller before buying.

Fourth, buy seeds according to the needs of the market. Different regional markets have different needs for vegetable varieties. If purple eggplant sells well in some areas, you can't grow green eggplant varieties; if pink tomatoes sell well in some areas, you should not choose red varieties; if you want to export mainly, you should choose thick-skinned varieties that are resistant to storage and transportation. Only by buying seeds in this way can your vegetables seize the market and sell more money.

Fifth, the purchase of seed must ask for an invoice and a credit card. When the seed is in dispute, the invoice is the only basis. Of course, it is best to keep the seed bag after sowing, which is also one of the evidence to resolve the seed dispute. It is better to be able to request technical data when purchasing seeds, so that they can be managed according to technical data and reduce losses.
