1. Genetic factors

Fertility is influenced by heredity, and there are differences among varieties and individual differences within the same variety. The fecundity of small rabbits was higher than that of large rabbits, and hybrid rabbits was higher than pure rabbits.

2. Environmental factors

Environmental factors such as season, temperature, light and so on will affect the reproduction of rabbits. According to seasons, the breeding rate of rabbits was spring> summer> winter> autumn. Rabbits can adapt to the temperature of 5~ 30℃, the appropriate temperature is 15~ 25℃. It was found that rabbits could normally mate, conceive and give birth when the average daily temperature was about 7℃ in winter, and reproduce normally when the highest temperature was 27~ 28℃ in summer. Male rabbits can breed normally when the illumination is 15 W/m2 and the illumination time is about 12 hours per day, and female rabbits can breed normally when the illumination time is controlled between 14 and 16 hours per day.

3. Nutritional factors

Nutrition is an important factor affecting reproduction rate of rabbits, especially for the rabbit oestrus, mating, conception and the survival of young rabbits play a decisive role, but also can affect the quality of male rabbits semen, sexual function.

4. Reproductive techniques

Breeding techniques have a great influence on the reproduction rate of rabbits. Mature eggs must be combined with sperm and fertilized after discharge; otherwise, the ability of egg fertilization gradually weakens or even loses the ability to fertilize. Conversely, sperm premature arrival at the fertilization site and ovulation too late, sperm fertilization ability will also be weakened, will affect the sperm and egg combination.

5. Pregnancy identification

The accuracy of pregnancy identification is related to the timely understanding of the reproductive status of rabbits and the necessary treatment or compounding of unpregnant female rabbits. Fetus touching method is the most accurate one in pregnancy diagnosis. After 10~12 days of breeding, the fetus is about the size of peanut, located in the abdomen, and can be touched through the abdomen.
