First, remove weeds.

It is high-temperature and rainy in summer and the climate is suitable. This is not only the favorable season for the growth of leek, but also the best time for the growth of all kinds of weeds. Because the leek plant is low and can not be shaded effectively, coupled with the row spacing between rows of leek, all these create conditions for the growth of weeds. Field management should pay attention to the timely removal of weeds to prevent weeds from competing for water and fertilizer, resulting in a shortage of grass and eating seedlings, affecting the growth of leek. Ploughing in time after each watering can not only break the soil consolidation, but also achieve the purpose of timely removal of weeds. In addition, during the growth period of leek, the weeds should be pulled out in time to facilitate the normal growth of leek plant.

Second, control prosperity.

The growth of leek is exuberant in summer, and many growers will fertilize leek irregularly in order to enhance the nutrient storage of leek plant. This is easy to cause leek to grow, especially if the nitrogen fertilizer is too much, it is more likely to grow. After the leek appeared vigorous growth, the plant height increased obviously, the leaf area coefficient increased, the plant became thinner and weaker, and it was easy to be laid down. After the leek was laid, the plants were cascading and shading each other. A few days later, the leaves were yellowed and the plants rotted, causing the leek to rot and die, resulting in a lack of seedlings and broken ridges. In serious cases, there will be no harvest and destruction of the whole leek border. Therefore, in the summer management of leek, we must insist on controlling prosperity and promoting strong, fertilizing with phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, increasing diameter and intensity, so as to achieve the management goal of strong but not prosperous, thick roots and strong seedlings.

Third, remove the leek moss in time.

At the end of summer every year, it is the time for chives to bolt and seed, which consumes a lot of nutrients. In general, the yield of seed-bearing leek is about 20%-30% less than that of non-seed-bearing leek, and the quality of leek produced in winter is significantly lower. Therefore, in the late summer leek bolting season, the leek moss should be removed in time to prevent nutrient consumption. If the leek moss cannot be removed in time, the leek moss should be interrupted with a stick in the lower part of the leek flower before almost all the leek moss is extracted and before flowering, so as to reduce the nutrient consumption as much as possible.

Fourth, control leek maggots.

Leek maggot is the main pest in leek production, and the occurrence of leek maggot can cause the failure of leek harvest in a large area. Therefore, the prevention and control of leek maggot is also an important work in leek production. In general, the spring after the removal of the arch shed and the end of autumn before the buckle shed are the key periods for the occurrence of leek maggots. According to the occurrence time of leek maggots, after the leek was removed from the shed, 48% chlorpyrifos EC, 1 kg per mu, was irrigated with water to control the root. Before buckling the shed, use 48% chlorpyrifos EC, 1 kg per mu with watering root control, can play a very good control effect.
