Improving the reproduction rate of ewes is the key to the income of the farm. In order to improve the reproduction rate of ewes, we can start from the following aspects.

One is to choose multi-lamb rams and ewes for breeding. Double lambs or multi-lambs are hereditary, and the previous generation of rams and ewes had better be selected from the reserve flock of more than one twin lamb. These rams and ewes with good genetic basis are reserved for breeding, which can give full play to their genetic potential and increase the probability of multiple lambs in ewes.

Second, adequate nutrition makes breeding sheep have healthy physical condition and moderate fat, rams maintain strong libido, a large number of sperm in semen, strong vitality and high fertilization ability; strengthening ewe nutrition is an effective measure to improve the reproduction rate of ewes. When the ewe is strong, the fetus develops well, the postpartum milk is sufficient, the birth weight of the lamb is large, and the survival rate is high. Therefore, the fatter the ewe is, the heavier the lamb is, and the higher the litter rate is.

The third is to carry out twice mating. When ewes are in estrus, double mating or double mating insemination can increase the rate of quasi-pregnancy and increase the probability of giving birth to twin lambs. The use of twice mating method can always maintain the existence of sperm with fertilization ability in the reproductive tract of ewes. Increase the chance of fertilization. Commonly used method: ewes confirmed estrus, insemination in 12 and 24 hours after each insemination, generally two insemination interval 10-12 hours.

The fourth is to increase the proportion of young and middle-aged ewes in the flock, and the fecundity of young ewes and old weak ewes is not as good as that of adult ewes. In the ewe's life, the ewe has the highest reproduction rate at the age of 3 to 4 years, and the breeding period is generally 8 years. Therefore, in order to improve the overall level of the flock, adjust the flock structure reasonably and supplement the young ewes in a planned way, we should appropriately increase the proportion of ewes aged 3 to 4 years old in the flock, and find and eliminate the old, weak or low fecundity ewes in time.

Fifth, timely early weaning of lambs and shortening the lactation time of ewes can promote ewes to have early estrus and achieve one-year prolificacy. Early weaning lambs need to artificially train their feeding ability and feed some fresh grass, vegetable leaves or soft and digestible hay and leaves at the age of 10 ~ 15 days. in order to stimulate the early formation of digestive function of lambs and the transition to independent feeding of lambs.
