Autumn delayed zucchini usually sows and raises seedlings around August 10, but August is the high-temperature and rainy season, and the damage of diseases and insect pests is the most rampant, which is the most difficult stage of seedling raising in the whole year. Zucchini seedlings are afraid of both high temperature and waterlogging. at this stage, the seedlings are easy to be infected with virus disease, resulting in seedling failure. In order to cultivate robust seedlings without disease and insect pests, three prevention beds must be built to prevent high temperature, bright light, sun burning, waterlogging, wet stains and insect pests.

I. Variety selection

After autumn, the temperature in the early stage of zucchini cultivation was high, and the occurrence of whitefly, Bemisia Tabaci and aphids was serious, which could easily lead to virus disease. varieties with good heat tolerance and strong virus resistance should be selected in production, such as Zhenyu 35, Zhenyu 9, Zhenyu 16, Mei Yu and so on.

Second, sow seeds at the right time and cultivate strong seedlings

According to the local climatic characteristics and cultivation habits, the suitable autumn cultivation time of zucchini is about August 10. Sowing too early, high temperature and strong light in the early stage, seedlings are susceptible to virus disease; sowing too late, the harvest time is shortened, affecting economic benefits. The suitable seedling age is about 15 days, and the seedlings can be planted with 2 true leaves. When the seedling age is too old, it is easy to hurt the root, which is not conducive to slow seedling and easily lead to the occurrence of virus disease.

For the delayed cultivation of zucchini in autumn, it is suggested to adopt the method of raising seedlings and transplanting with substrate. The use of arch shed rain, shade net shade, anti-insect net insect control. Before sowing, spray the seedling substrate with water, hold it in a ball and loosen the hand, and then put it into a 50-hole hole plate and sow 1 seed in each hole. The seeds should be exposed and placed flat in the center of the hole. After sowing, cover with 1-1.5 cm thick substrate, spray water and pour through the substrate. Build a small arch shed on the seedling bed and cover it with an anti-insect net to prevent the damage of aphids, whitefly and Bemisia Tabaci and prevent the occurrence of virus diseases.

III. Seedbed management

The fungicide was sprayed once when the seedlings came out to control the disease of sudden fall and blight. Irrigate the seedling bed with small water once every 3 days to keep the seedling bed moist, and properly spray 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution once or twice to promote seedling growth and flower bud differentiation. Pay close attention to weather changes and strictly prevent burning seedlings in hot weather and flooding seedlings in rainy days. Cover the shade net when you need shade.

IV. Colonization

Zucchini has a well-developed root system and likes fertile soil, so choose the former non-melon crops, good drainage and irrigation conditions, fertilizer and water conservation loam land for colonization. 5000 kilograms of farm manure, 40 kilograms of calcium superphosphate and 50 kilograms of three-element compound fertilizer are applied per mu. If root-knot nematode disease has occurred in the land, 0.5% avermectin granules or line granules are used for 2 kilograms per mu. Spread the above fertilizers and chemicals evenly on the surface, and rake deeply after application, so that the soil and manure are fully mixed. After leveling the land, the ridge distance is 1.2 to 1.3 meters, the ridge height is 20 centimeters, and the ridge surface is covered with black plastic film to prevent grass damage.

It can be planted when the seedlings have two true leaves, and the seedlings can be sprayed with pesticides to prevent diseases and insect pests before planting. The growth period of the late autumn is relatively short, so it can be planted closely to increase the yield. The plant spacing was 0.55-0.6 m per ridge, and 1200-1500 plants per mu. Choose sunny afternoon or cloudy day to break the film and open holes for planting, select disease-free and insect-free seedlings, and then compact the seedlings with plastic film after watering the planting holes. Watering and planting water according to soil moisture and soaking the ridges can reduce the ground temperature and slow down the seedlings. Note: strictly prevent flooding of seedlings when watering to avoid soil consolidation at the base of the stem of seedlings.
