Cortex moutan (the root bark of peony) and Gastrodia elata are valuable traditional Chinese medicine. Interplanting Gastrodia elata in mouti is a new cultivation model with high yield and high efficiency, which is worth popularizing for medicine farmers in the planting areas of traditional Chinese medicine.

The most remarkable characteristics of interplanting Gastrodia elata in moutan field are: first, it makes full use of the land; second, the two are complementary. Because Cortex moutan is a small shrub with deep roots and root bark, it needs deep and rich soil, and it needs to be dug only once every 4 ~ 5 years after cultivation, and its leaves are large, which can create good shading conditions for Gastrodia elata. On the other hand, Gastrodia elata has no roots and does not need light, and the two will not compete for fertilizer and water. In addition, Gastrodia elata needs to be harvested once a year, and the fillers (leaves) used in the cultivation of Gastrodia elata provide sufficient nutrients for Cortex moutan after decay; third, it avoids the trouble of weeding the moutan land frequently. In this way, after interplanting Gastrodia elata in moutan, the peony leaves are luxuriant, the root thickens quickly, the root bark thickens, and the yield and quality are increased. At the same time, the individual weight of Gastrodia elata (commercial hemp) is more than 300 grams, which is more than 40% higher than that of the general cultivation method, and its yield and commodity value are also significantly increased. The cultivation methods are introduced as follows:

First, planting peony

1. Choose the place. The peony land of interplanting Gastrodia elata requires that the soil is fertile and deep, with the best slope with a little bit.

2. Select seedlings. The big seedling is the best, the big seedling germinates quickly after planting value, the plant is strong, and the plant piece will cover the rows after planting for one year, which provides the necessary shading conditions for the cultivation of Gastrodia elata. The white peony is the best, because the white peony is taller and the leaves are longer than the red peony.

3. Planting. The effect of flat planting is the best. In the good land, first dig the planting pit, the length of the pit depends on the length of the seedling; the width is 25 cm, the depth of the pit is 15 cm, put the seedlings flat in the pit, put 2 seedlings in the pit, and the seedlings are 20 cm apart. Then press the roots of the seedlings with moist fertilizer, and then fill the pit with fine soil. When filling the soil, 2 ~ 3 buds should be left exposed to facilitate germination. After planting, it is necessary to pour enough fixed root water, and cover with crop straw or leaves to preserve soil moisture, and after the earth warms up, the mulch can be removed. This kind of cultivation, the general survival rate is more than 95%. At the same time, when cultivating, it is best to choose the north-south direction between rows. Generally, the line spacing is 80 cm, and the plant spacing is 50 cm. The suitable cultivation time is from autumn defoliation to early spring of the following year.

Second, interplanting Gastrodia elata

1. Interplanting time. Interplanting Gastrodia elata in moutan should be carried out from late autumn to early spring, which is not only the dormancy period of peony, but also the harvest time and the best planting period of Gastrodia elata.

2. Interplanting method. The moutan land interplanted with Gastrodia elata should choose the land where peony has been planted for more than one year. First of all, we should prepare Armillaria mellea and Gastrodia elata seeds, and at the same time prepare enough leaves to be used as fillers and coverings, and then plant them according to the conventional planting method of Gastrodia elata. When planting, first sprinkle a layer of leaves between the rows of the moutan land, with a thickness of 5 cm ~ 10 cm, and then put Armillaria mellea material on the leaves, put the fungus material into a "I" shape, and according to the length of the fungus material, put a seed every 8 cm ~ 10 cm away, the seed should be close to the mouth of the fish scale, and then fill the gap between the fungus material with leaves, and cover it with leaves 20 cm thick. According to the shading of peony leaves, the leaves are covered with broad-leaved branches and watered once, so that the covered leaves can only be planted in 1 layer. It should be noted that when covering the leaves, the peony plant can not be covered.

3. Strengthen management and protection. Once Gastrodia elata is interplanted, it should be protected around the interplanting plot to prevent livestock and poultry from entering the ground. In the season of lack of rain and high temperature, it can be properly watered to prevent drought and cool down. After the harvest of Gastrodia elata, the rotten leaves of cultivated Gastrodia elata can be heaped at the base of peony plant. In this way, it can be interplanted continuously for 3 ~ 4 years until Cortex moutan is dug and processed.
