I. selection of land and land preparation

Zelan is not strict with the cultivation land. It is suitable for loam or sandy loam. Soil preparation before planting, using rotten barnyard manure as base fertilizer, ploughing and raking fine, leveling the land, making border width 1.2m.

II. Methods of reproduction

1. Sexual reproduction: after the seeds were harvested, the seeds were sown in strips from March to April, and the row spacing was 30cm. Cover the soil after sowing, compact it slightly, and cover it with grass. Fully water and always keep the soil moist. Sowing rate 3.75kg per hectare.

2. Asexual reproduction: when digging the rhizome, select the white, sturdy and tender rhizome, cut it into 10~15cm long segments, according to the row spacing 30~45cm, plant spacing 15~20cm, dig the planting hole, plant 2-3 small sections per hole, cover the soil with thick 5cm, and fully water it after a little suppression. Those planted in winter emerged in early spring of the following year, and those planted in spring emerged in 10-12 days. Use seed stem 375~900kg per hectare.

III. Field management

After emergence, remove the mulch, and time seedlings. When the seedlings were fixed, the distance between the plants and 15cm was about, and there were 1 or 2 strong seedlings left in each place. Weeding and loosening the soil for 2 or 3 times in the seedling stage. Keep the soil moist during the growing period. When the seedling height is about 15cm, and after the first harvest, topdressing, application of mature human and animal manure water, or ammonium sulfate 225kg per hectare should be carried out. After winter harvest, it is appropriate to apply soil miscellaneous fertilizer and mature human and animal manure to protect the rhizome overwintering and promote its germination in the coming spring. After planting for 2-3 years, the plants are clustered and should be replanted.

IV. Diseases and insect pests and their control

1. Rust: prevention and control methods: 1000 times solution of 25% Fenxiu Ning powder can be used for spray control.

2. Inchworm: the larvae eat leaves, and the peak period is from June to July. It can be sprayed with 800-1000 times liquid of 90% trichlorfon.

3. Chilo suppressalis: the larvae are harmful leaves, and the peak period is from July to September.

Prevention and control methods: clear the garden, turn the land deeply after harvest, and reduce the source of overwintering insects.

V. harvesting and processing

In summer and autumn, stems and leaves grow luxuriantly. Harvest the whole grass before blooming. In the south, the harvest begins in the first and middle of April and can be harvested 2 or 3 times a year. However, in the growing period, the aboveground part can not be harvested for digging rhizome into medicine and keeping seed land for seed stem. After receiving, cut into sections and flatten. After picking and digging, the rhizome is washed, dried or dried.
