Taipei Lantern Festival Nine Days of Fun Ends in West City

The 2017 Taipei Festival of Lights, which moved to Taipei West for the first time, lasted for nine days. The last main light show was held at 10 p.m. on the 12th, and all lights were turned off at 11 p.m.

This year's Taipei Festival of Lights was held for the first time in Hsimenting, setting many records. The opening ceremony was as grand as the New Year's Eve party. After the festival was held, it received a lot of attention and praise from all walks of life. Visitors also poured into Taipei's western district. For the first time, the main exhibition area was presented in the form of "street theater". The "Little Chicken Family" created by artist Bu Erliang performed, breaking the concept of only one main lamp in the past. Together with the main visual exhibition producer Feng Jianzhang, the main exhibition area created a visual feast in the highest standard performance mode in Taiwan. Finally, the "West City Carnival Parade" on the evening of Lantern Festival was the first large-scale parade seen in the Western District.

Chen Ching-chun, vice mayor of Taipei City, who presided over the closing ceremony of the Lantern Festival, said that this year, Taipei Lantern Festival was brought to Ximending, and efforts were made to overcome various obstacles such as traffic, cleanliness and safety maintenance, so that North Gate and Zhongshan Hall could be transformed magnificently. He hoped that through holding Taipei Lantern Festival, people would be closer to each other.

The overall presentation of this year's Taipei Festival of Lights breaks away from the previous festival model and has attracted international attention.
