The main diseases of Coptis chinensis are powdery mildew, anthrax, white silk disease, insect pests are mainly slugs, the following introduces the performance and control methods of its diseases and insect pests.

I. Diseases

Powdery mildew: caused by an ascomycete in fungi. It occurred in late May and was more severe from June to July. The main damage to leaves.

Control methods: implement crop rotation; spray 2-3 times with 80 units of Qingfengmycin; or spray 3-4 times with 1000-1500 times of 50% or 70% methyl topiramate. It was prevented and treated once at the initial stage and 2-3 times at the later stage.

Anthrax: it occurs in early May and is serious from mid-May to early June. Damage to the edge of the leaf, showing oval immersed spots. Control methods: implement rotation; use 1 ∶ 1 ∶ 100-150 Bordeaux solution for seedling bed and 1-year-old seedlings or add 0.2% detergent with 800x solution of detergent ammonium, and control 3-4 times in the initial stage and peak period. Yalian is more serious in the mountain area below 1900 meters above sea level. Oil-stained dots were produced on the diseased leaves, which gradually expanded into a disease class, with dark red edges, gray-white center, sometimes perforation and red disease spots at the base of the petiole. In severe cases, the leaves withered and the plants did not die, but their growth and development were affected.

Control methods: adopt interchangeable cultivation of seedlings in high and low mountains; remove weeds frequently and pay attention to drainage; spray with 1 ∶ 1 ∶ 200 Bordeaux solution or 65% ammonium zinc wettable powder on a sunny day before the disease.

Symptoms of anthracnose of Coptis chinensis (acute)

White silk disease occurred in early June and was seriously harmful from late June to mid-July.

Control methods: carry out rotation; select disease-free plants as seeds, soak the roots of seedlings with 1000 times solution of 50% bacillus for 3-5 minutes before planting, disinfect the soil with 1.5-2.5kg pentachloronitrobenzene per mu during soil preparation, dig out diseased plants and soil, and disinfect them with lime, and then irrigate healthy plants around diseased plants with 5% lime and 0.2% urea to prevent spread.

II. Insect pests

Mainly slugs, harmful from March to November, bite young leaves in the morning and evening, or even eat them all. Control methods: turn the soil in winter; use 40-50 kg of rapeseed cake per mu as base fertilizer before planting; sprinkle lime powder or spray 3% lime water on the border during the occurrence period; or use poison bait to kill.

Third, rodent damage

Ground rodents harmed Coptis chinensis root, which was found in 4 seasons in a year. Prevention and control methods: artificial killing, or bait trapping.
