MOC 5th Anniversary Celebration of "Lighthouse Heritage Museum" Opened!

The Lighthouse Museum was unveiled in celebration of the fifth anniversary of the Port Bureau of the Ministry of Communications.

The Port Bureau of the Ministry of Communications held a celebration of the fifth anniversary on the morning of the 1st, during which the unveiling ceremony of the country's first "Lighthouse Museum" was held. It also publicly awarded awards to 18 operators of "excellent operating service passenger ships and passenger boats" and "port facilities security inspection and evaluation", and conducted warm public welfare activities of "caring for the zero distance of information in my village", donating 55 computers to children living in rural areas. Take practical actions to convey the concern and intention for the corner of the countryside.

In order to activate the use of space, the Port Bureau specially combines the connotation of traditional cultural relics, craftsman technology and historical and cultural heritage of lighthouses, integrates modern innovative science and technology, cultural creativity and spatial activation elements, and builds a "Lighthouse Museum" full of historical traces. The museum completely retains the development and evolution of lights in different years, and the mottled traces of each lighthouse tell a period of historical memories. It is also the presentation of the excellent craftsmanship of lighthouse craftsmen. Among the precious cultural relics on display is the incandescent gauze lamp invented by Jiang in 1904, which can give off a strong light when lit, and was the best light source for the lighthouse a hundred years ago.

The Port Bureau said that in the future, it will cooperate with the Keelung municipal government to connect scenic spots near the Lighthouse Museum, such as "Ball Hill Lighthouse", "Keelung Port Construction Monument", "Fairy Cave Rock", "Holland City (White Rice urn Fort)", "Keelung Lighthouse" and so on. Starting with the new thinking of "port tourism" in island countries, it is expected to invigorate the local resources of Keelung. At the same time, we should grasp the opportunities for future development and achieve the policy goal of "rejuvenating the country by the sea" from the five major aspects of "shipping safety, maritime transport and strong integration with international maritime culture and marine tourism".
